Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Announces Miller & Lux Pop-Up in Partnership with Celebrity Chef Tyler Florence

Chef Tyler Florence will take over Hualalai Grille this festive season and offer intimate cooking classes

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, the first and only AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star Resort on Hawaii Island, will partner with famed celebrity chef Tyler Florence for a special takeover and residency this festive season. Scheduled for December 18, 2022 - January 4, 2023, Chef Florence will bring his acclaimed American steakhouse Miller & Lux to the Island of Hawaii for a refined yet comfortable dining experience with the best cuts of beef, seafood and locally-sourced produce showcasing the island’s natural bounty.

Miller & Lux will take over the Resort’s Hualalai Grille overlooking the 18th green of the Hualalai Golf Course. Known for its intimate club-like ambiance, Chef Florence’s menu adds an inventive new dining experience to celebrate the holidays. The menu takes influence from the local culture and will showcase dishes such as Kumamoto Oysters with sweet Maui onion mignonette, nori and lime; Caviar Doughnuts with crème fraiche custard and Kaluga caviar; Grilled Salmon Paillard with Tokyo turnips and shiso bearnaise; alongside the top selections of game including Filet Mignon, New York Strip, Wagyu Tomahawk and a finite daily selection of Kalua Pork. Guests can also expect a number of Miller & Lux signature items including the tableside Caesar Salad for two, Miller & Lux Steak Tartare with tarragon mayonnaise, Miller & Lux Burger and more. The menu is balanced with a curated selection of wines and seasonal cocktails to complement each dish.

"I'm both thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to step into what is already such a rich and exciting food program at Four Seasons Hualalai and bring a taste of Miller & Lux to Resort and island guests during festive season,” says Chef Tyler Florence. “What we're doing in San Francisco has been a career high for me and having the local influence and ingredients available to us in Hawaii will make it that much more exciting.”

In addition to the pop-up, Resort guests are invited to participate in intimate, demonstration-style cooking classes with Chef Florence. Available for two weeks during festive season, guests can learn from Chef Florence in a classroom setting while preparing a delicious, island-inspired lunch. The demonstration cooking classes will be held Monday through Friday from December 19 and December 26, 2022 at 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The cost of participation is USD 300 per person, including lunch.

Twenty-six-year Food Network veteran Tyler Florence has captivated millions of viewers on numerous hit shows, including Emmy nominated Tyler’s Ultimate, and The Great Food Truck Race, entering its 16th season, among many others. His reach and influence extend well beyond his cooking shows, as he has authored 16 cookbooks, with one currently in development, and built an expanding business across multiple platforms.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University ’94, '04 Hon, and a two-time James Beard Award nominee for Best Chef West Coast, Tyler has launched several highly-lauded restaurants, most notably Miller & Lux at San Francisco’s Chase Arena and his original flagship Wayfare Tavern. Tyler also helms a full service production company, Monarch Collective, in which he directs and produces content ranging from documentary film and television to advertising and digital media.

The Miller & Lux takeover builds on the already impressive culinary program at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, joining Ulu’ Ocean Grill & Sushi Lounge and Beach Tree Restaurant as unparalleled island dining experiences. Each restaurant emphasizes sustainable practices, sourcing 75 percent of all food served from Hawaii Island.

The Miller & Lux takeover at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai will run daily from 5:00 to 9:00 pm from December 18, 2022 - January 4, 2023.
