Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya Sources 100% Cage-Free Eggs for Onsite Food and Beverage Outlets

Luxury Kuwait City address joins Four Seasons-wide global initiative for positive impact on animal welfare and sustainable food sourcing

“You have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet,” goes the old saying. At Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya, you also have to open a few cages. The dazzling, design-forward luxury address located in a 25-storey tower in the new Burj Alshaya complex in downtown Kuwait City now uses only 100 percent cage-free eggs for all menu items at food and beverage outlets and across banqueting operations.

While they may not have it quite as nice as Four Seasons guests, the French breed chickens that produce eggs for the Hotel’s local food supplier have it pretty good. They are reared in a modern aviary, cage-free system developed by the world market leader for animal-friendly layer management. And they are raised from day one on natural Dutch feed exported specially to ensure quality and taste, eliminate any fishy flavour, and supply all of the essential elements required to produce the finest quality of free-range eggs available in the Kuwait Market.

Result? Great tasting, guilt-free omelets – and so much more.

The Kuwaiti Hotel’s embrace of 100 percent cage-free egg is inspired by the recent commitment of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the world’s leading luxury hospitality company, to source 100 percent cage-free eggs – both shell and liquid – for all of its hotel and resort operations throughout the United States, Canada and Europe by year-end 2019.

The company’s initiative is being carried out with encouragement from The Humane League, a non-profit animal welfare advocacy group committed to improving the lives farm animals. Ultimately, the goal is to source only cage-free eggs across Four Seasons global portfolio of more than 100 hotels and resorts – and counting – by 2025.

“Many of our properties have already made the switch to cage-free, and we are confident that this is doable in the US and EMEA by the end of 2019,” noted Gialuca Sparacino, Regional Vice President Food and Beverage for Four Seasons. With its growing portfolio, Four Seasons commitment to going cage-free will have a positive impact on animal welfare and sustainable food sourcing at both the local and global level. Plus, added Sparacino, it’s “the right thing to do.”

Indeed it is, says Sebastiano Spriveri, Executive Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya. “We have an active list of all hotels that are already compliant in EMEA, and we’re working with the rest to get us to 100 percent compliance in the region. This is a globally approved initiative, and I’m really glad that our property has stepped up to be a part of it for the benefit of animals and our guests.”

Guests of Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait can look forward to sinking their appetites into cage-free eggs over the new Friday Brunch at Elements, the all-day, market-style dining concept located on the 4th floor; while enjoying signature flavours from Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo at Sintoho, or wood-fired pizzas and homemade pasta at the Italian restaurant Dai Forni, both overlooking panoramic views of the city from the Hotel’s top floor; and of course in their guest rooms with all-day In-Room Dining.
