Four Seasons Hotel Madrid announces its first Wine Dinner, which will be held in its majestic banquet venues on Friday, November 25, 2022. This will be the first of many dinners seeking to highlight the incredible value of Spanish wines, on this occasion in partnership with the prestigious Remírez de Ganuza winery and its tasting of five cuvée wines.

This Wine Dinner officially launches a series of celebrations at which many memorable moments will be uncorked in the company of top wineries from throughout Spain and overseas. These holistic experiences will include a different orchestra conductor each night to further enhance the virtues of such genuinely masterful culinary showcases.

Based on produce from the Rioja Alavesa region, guests at this dinner will taste five winemaking masterpieces alongside the delicious dishes from a menu created especially for this occasion by the Executive Sous Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, Pau Eche. Besides the orchestra conductors responsible for enhancing the wines with their music, master winemaker José Ramón Urtasun and Beverage Manager at the Hotel Agustín Trapero will deftly accompany guests on this incredible journey. These two masters in the art of capturing aromas from the grape will guide guests on that olfactory and gustatory journey through the magnificence of five great achievements from each of the partner wineries for these dinners.

Winemaking Excellence from Rioja Alavesa

Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza began as a personal venture by its founder, Fernando Remírez de Ganuza, when it was established in 1989. The impact from this tale of hard work, love and dedication can now be felt in each one of the wines produced by the winery, all of them characterised by excellence and expertise. Fernando’s work buying and selling old vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa region during the 1970s and 1980s enabled him to select the most suitable estates in the area for his own project.

In 2010, José Ramón Urtasun (the current director) took the legacy of this great winery and reinvented the Rioja Alavesa denomination of origin, thus launching a new era for Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza. The result has been enshrined in the unique flavours to be found in its bottles, recognised in 2004 by the Robert Parker guide (the most prestigious in the winemaking world) with 100 points for its Gran Reserva.

This first Wine Dinner will enable guests to take a journey for their senses of sight, smell and taste through five major milestones that have defined the history of the Remírez de Ganuza winery. Spaces are limited to a total of 25 guests so as to ensure a personalised sensory journey through the wines, at a cost of EUR 290 per person.

The night will begin at 7:30 pm with a Louis Roederer Collection 243 Champagne and a selection of canapés to welcome guests to the first of many delightful moments that await them over the course of the evening. The tasting menu will begin at 8:00 pm, created especially for this occasion by Chef Pau Eche and Agustín Trapero to perfectly pair the five wines with five different dishes:

Tuna tartare with red fruits and essence of rose

2020 Garnacha Red Iraila by Remírez de Ganuza

Lobster tail a la Béarnaise with kaki

2020 Remírez de Ganuza White Reserva

Skate with black butter and pickled onions

2014 Remírez de Ganuza White Gran Reserva

Duck with chocolate sauce, Mediterranean herbs, mushrooms and truffles

2005 Remírez de Ganuza Red Gran Reserva

The tasting menu will conclude with a selection of cheeses to pair with the magnificent flavour of the 2010 Trasnocho Remírez de Ganuza, the result of 20 years of experience.
