Director of Marketing Chris White has a superpower. He propels luxury hotel and resort openings, renovations, and rebranding projects to success in all market conditions. No matter the challenge, he rises to the occasion, putting people first, leading business strategies in alignment with brand values and guiding teams to deliver impactful results and first-in-class guest experiences.

At Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis, Chris serves as a relationship builder and purpose-driven storyteller, overseeing marketing, sales, events and communications. “I love the process of creating something new and seeing it flourish,” Chris says. “That’s why I came to Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis.”

Chris assumed his current role in July 2021 with the goal of delivering experiences that bring people together and draw them to the Twin Cities. “Success for me is if we’re able to create something Minneapolis has never had before and inspire people to hop on a flight and see for themselves how special this place is.”  

This is Chris’ second time living in Minnesota; earlier in his career, he worked for the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, serving as their Director of Sales and Marketing from 2003-04.

While Chris is clear-eyed about the business of revenue driving, brand conceptualization, advertising and public relations, for him, the personal relationships are the most rewarding. “A hotel is like working in a little town,” he explains. “There are such different skill sets, backgrounds, nationalities. It’s important to learn about people first and get to know them on a deeper level so you can connect and lead with empathy.”

Chris originally joined Four Seasons in September 2011 as Director of Marketing for Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. It was there he met his current colleague, General Manager Florian Riedel, while leading a large-scale suite renovation, which helped the property earn the “Best Resort in the World” award from TripAdvisor — a distinction based entirely on guest feedback.

Prior to his second stint with Four Seasons, Chris oversaw an extensive rebranding and repositioning of Mauna Lani, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Past successes also include managing sales and marketing for six Starwood Hotels and Resorts; earning Sales Leader of the Year in 2010 while at The St. Regis Princeville Resort in Kauai; and overseeing marketing, sales, revenue and reservations at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s 550-room resort in Canada.

In his spare time, Chris loves any and all outdoor activities, from camping to hiking to golfing to hockey. He lives just a few blocks from Lake Minnetonka, so he’s steps from some of the most beautiful scenery in the area. He also manages to give back while staying active and has completed four triathlons and three half-marathons with Team in Training to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

But Chris’s real superpower? This Canadian is a bona fide hockey dad. In addition to lacing up his own skates when he can, he and his wife, Heather, are fixtures at the rink as they watch their kids, Trevor and Jake, play.
