A part-time job in college changed the trajectory of Michael Geffin’s life and career. While studying marketing and advertising at the University of Miami, Michael began working at Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort in Miami, Florida. He quickly discovered a love for hotels and ended up transferring to the University of Central Florida to study hospitality management.

Michael spent three years working with Walt Disney World Resorts before joining Four Seasons in 2017 as part of the opening team of Four Seasons at The Surf Club in Surfside, Florida. Calling Four Seasons “the peak of excellence in hospitality,” he considers accepting a position with the hotel brand to be the best decision he’s ever made. Michael quickly rose through the ranks at The Surf Club and earned recognition as Manager of the Year by Four Seasons and Inn Key Manager of the Year by The Greater Miami and The Beaches Hotel Association.

In 2021, Michael joined the team at Four Seasons Hotel Denver to reopen the bar post-pandemic and add two new bars at the property. When the opportunity arose to join the pre-opening team at Four Seasons Hotel Nashville, Michael was thrilled to develop a new bar program in a city with such a thriving food and beverage scene.

Michael’s endless curiosity and passion make him particularly well-suited for leading the Hotel’s bar program. He is fascinated by the intersection between tradition and innovation - paying homage to classic spirits and cocktails while adding an unexpected flair to them. He also takes great pride in fostering creativity in his team with the goal of finding new riffs on beloved classics, blending cultural flavours, and creating something that’s memorable and exciting for guests each time they visit.

“My approach is that there’s always something to learn,” Michael says. “There are always flavours to explore and blend, and I want to cultivate that mindset with our team. I like letting our bartenders shine and bring their ideas to the table.”

Since arriving in Nashville in the spring of 2022, Michael has enjoyed exploring all the city has to offer. Not surprisingly, his top priority has been exploring the city’s wide array of cocktail lounges and bars. “The food and beverage scene here is just amazing,” he says. “I love exploring the variety of what Nashville has to offer.”
