The Sweetest Summer: Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi Launches New Mangolicious Afternoon Tea
Starting July 1, 2023, THE LOUNGE at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi presents a dazzling celebration of mangoes, Japan’s most luxurious summer fruit.
An important part of local culture, Japanese mangoes are prized for their remarkable taste, aroma and texture. The new Mangolicious Afternoon Tea is crafted with the finest seasonal mangoes from across Japan, showcasing their fragrant flavour and melt-in-your-mouth succulence, combined with oh-so-summery flavours such as pineapple, passionfruit and tropical flowers.
“How do we love mangoes? Let us count the ways,” says Executive Chef Satoru Hirano with a smile. “Our team has designed a variety of imaginative sweets and savouries to create the ultimate feast for mango lovers.”
With soft sunlight filtering in through its large picture windows, THE LOUNGE sets a joyful tone for this vibrant Afternoon Tea. Guests are invited to explore a sparkling repertoire of mango-inspired treats, dressed joyfully in yellow and white, against sky-high views of the Imperial Palace Gardens in all their summer splendour.
The star of the menu is the gorgeous Mango Pudding with Passion Fruit Sauce, layered with passionfruit jelly, mango pudding, coconut blancmange and lime jelly, all topped with a crisp sable cookie and pineapple mousse. With its sunshine hues, white chocolate flowers and fragrant fruits, this sweet treat conjures the bliss of a tropical summer.
Another highlight is the Exotic Babà: bite into a rich medley of mango mousse and rum babà, a Neapolitan delicacy famed for its exquisite softness and heady flavour. Decorated with white chocolate cream, apricot sauce, pistachios and tropical flowers, this eye-catching pastry offers the perfect balance of sweet and sour.
On the savoury side, the culinary team breathes new life into Edo miso, reclaiming a historical specialty that has nearly been lost in the mists of time. As guests savour the Edo Miso Foie Gras Confit with Mango Chutney, each moment feels extra special owing to the proximity of the former Edo Castle — a mere 15-minute walk from Four Seasons.
The Grilled Corn Bavaroies with Caramel Pop Corn Tartlette is a savoury celebration of summer vegetables such as edamame and corn. Enjoy a tantalizing interplay of textures and tastes, featuring the bittersweet notes of caramel popcorn and the umami punch of soy sauce powder.
The Mangolicious Afternoon Tea is available only for a limited period, while the best of Japanese mangoes are in season. View the complete menu here.
