Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco Brings Back the Three-Martini Lunch

MKT Restaurant & Bar reimagines the best part of returning to the office – the working lunch

MKT Restaurant & Bar at Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco is bringing back everyone’s favourite part of going into an office – the business lunch – with a new approach to the classic three-martini lunch to pair with the seasonal California lunch menu.

MKT’s Three-Martini Lunch is available each week Monday-Friday, from 11:30 am-2:30 pm, and features the option to add any combination of three mini-martinis made with Stoli Elit Vodka or Hendrick’s Gin, dry vermouth, no vermouth or dirty, with olives, onions, cucumber or a twist, to the a la carte lunch menu. By request only, guests with the MKT Insider Secret can also opt for the Vesper, James’s Bond’s original martini – shaken, not stirred, with vodka, gin and Lillet Blanc.

Inspired by the return to the office, the three-martini lunch also celebrates the classic cocktail’s history. Many believe the timeless elixir to have originated in Martinez, California, just outside of San Francisco, in the midst of the Gold Rush in 1849. After striking it rich, a miner stopped in Martinez on his way back to the Golden Gate City to celebrate with a glass of champagne, which the bar was out of. Instead, the bartender offered to prepare a “Martinez Special,” one-part dry Sauterne wine, three-parts gin, stirred with ice and finished with an olive, and so the martini was born.

“Our location in the heart of downtown San Francisco has always made MKT a hotspot for business lunches,” says Jesse Caetano, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco. “The Three-Martini lunch puts a tempered twist on a favoured pastime to welcome businesses back to the office.”

Located on the fifth floor of the award-winning Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco, MKT Restaurant & Bar offers panoramic views of Market Street and downtown in the SoMa district, next to Yerba Buena Gardens. Recently renovated by esteemed design boutique Meyer Davis, the inviting restaurant features hand-finished walnut slabs, cerused oak and cool steel and brass accents to create a warmth that is evocative of home. Helmed by veteran Chef Kevin Tanaka, MKT offers a California-centric, market-to-table menu of sustainable seafood, local meats and seasonal produce.

MKT’s Three-Martini Lunch is available every week, Monday-Friday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm for USD 33 per person. For reservations, click here.
