High-Adrenaline Summer Adventure in Santa Fe

Santa Fe, U.S.A.

Santa Fe in the summer is not just for art lovers and spa-goers, but also an ideal basecamp for high-adrenaline adventure. Thrill-seekers will find themselves immersed in one of the Southwest’s most exciting natural playgrounds with a stay at Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe, featuring the onsite Adventure Center to assist in all planning needs.

“Travellers who want both the thrill of exploration and the comfort of a high-end stay will find the perfect fit in Santa Fe, where it’s possible to have both in the same day,” says Adventure Architect Hans Loehr.

Loehr recommends the following adventures – all of which can be booked through the Adventure Center – to thrill-seeking guests looking to amplify their high-altitude adventure:

High-Mountain Ramble

Guests can start their adventure with a scenic drive into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, up to 10,350 feet (3,155 metres). From the Santa Fe Ski Basin, the Adventure Center guide will lead participants on a moderate hike along mountain streams and verdant meadows to views of distant peaks. Ambitious hikers can climb above the tree line and visit crystal-clear mountain lakes.

Whitewater Rafting

For those craving a faster pace, white water rafting on the Rio Grande delivers a pulse-pounding experience. Expert guides lead half- and full-day excursions through the Rio Grande Gorge, where Class III and IV rapids offer challenge for both seasoned paddlers and first-timers and promise an exhilarating ride.

Mountain Biking

Santa Fe’s adventure continues on two wheels. Mountain biking enthusiasts can tackle a variety of terrain — from smooth-flow singletrack in the Galisteo Basin to technical alpine trails in the Santa Fe National Forest. The city’s high desert climate and elevation provide ideal conditions for biking, with cool mornings, dry trails, and unforgettable scenery.
