“Growing up on the beaches of Cocos Keeling Islands in the Indian Ocean, it was at a young age that I developed a love for nature, having spent many of my days fishing, racing hermit crabs and exploring.”

Leon Pink’s was a childhood that saw a discovery of many different countries across Asia and not only did this instil a desire to travel, but it made him increasingly inquisitive about the world. “My move to the highlands of Papua New Guinea in my youth sparked a passion for discovering new cultures and this is something that drew me into hospitality.”

In his early years in hospitality, Leon developed an affinity for design as part of the opening teams of boutique luxury hotels in both London and Amsterdam. Moving back to Australia, Leon worked in well-known properties such as Ayers Rock Resort, was part of the opening team for Elements of Byron – Byron Bay and managed the Hayman Island Resort on the Great Barrier Reef, which comprised more than 200 rooms, eleven food and beverage outlets, a spa, and conference and banqueting operations.

It was during his time in Australia that Leon met and married his wife Kim. Soon after, they were joined by their daughter Beth. With his family growing, Leon was reminded of his early years and felt a desire to be back in the Indian Ocean. As such, it is perhaps no surprise that when the opportunity to become the Resort Manager at One&Only Reethi Rah in Maldives arose, Leon seized it.

“When you connect with the natural beauties of this world and have the opportunity to live and work in paradise, you just want to share this experience with everyone. I think this is why I’ve always been drawn to doing what I do – it feels like home away from home.”

Following on from Maldives, Leon had the chance to join Four Seasons in what is his new favourite destination in the world, the Seychelles.

“The people of Seychelles have a natural and authentic warmth they breathe into their hospitality. In this Resort specifically, we are blessed to have a unique and incredibly special location, which our team has the chance to share with new guests every day. This is a magical encounter.”

One of Leon’s key strengths is his ability to employ creative solutions to a wide range of operational, marketing and employment initiatives. His experience in property openings also ensures he understands the dedication and attention to detail required in not only managing, but creating luxury service standards. With Seychelles as his new home, Leon is striving to lead his team in delivering service that is the perfect complement to the beauty of the surroundings of Petite Anse Bay.
