A Bay Area transplant by way of Bora Bora, French Polynesia, Richard Lanaud arrived at Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley in October 2015 as the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. With his move to Palo Alto, Richard brought with him a wealth of food and beverage experience, a keen eye for detail and an unparalleled French panache.

“When I was a child, I can remember the enjoyment of eating a delicious meal with my loved ones at popular restaurants or staying in beautiful hotels around the world. This early exposure to the world of hospitality was instantly attractive to me and I quickly developed a deep passion for it. I could not have imagined myself working in any other field than food and beverage or hospitality.”

Richard managed a team of 123 at Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora, French Polynesia as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, overseeing the entire food and beverage operation including at the premier resort: restaurants, bars, room service, banquets and kitchens. Richard dedicated nearly a decade of his career in Bora Bora with successive roles ranging from Assistant Restaurant Manager to Restaurants and Bars Director. Prior to Bora Bora, Richard studied under Sommelier Enrico Bernardo, named World’s Best Sommelier 2004, at Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris. Richard also gain valuable experience at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, and Four Seasons Hotel Toronto.

Prior to becoming Hotel Manager at the Hotel, he was Director of Food and Beverage. Richard says “It’s an exciting time to be a part of this Hotel. Moving us forward into the future, I want to continue to ensure our guests experience an authentic taste of the Bay Area throughout the various guest and food and beverage offerings available at our Hotel.”

When Richard is not working, he can be found spending quality time with his wife Marie and children travelling, or savouring a glass of Scottish whisky or a newly discovered California wine while cheering on the national football (soccer) team from his home country of France.
