Over, Under and On - Sydney by the Water
Sydneysiders love the harbour – and for good reason. It’s often voted one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Flanked by Sydney’s crown jewels, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, it’s also home to numerous fine dining restaurants, museums, the Royal Botanic Gardens and cute and quirky boutiques.
Here are our Concierge’s top three ways to experience Sydney Harbour.
- OVER: The best view of Sydney Harbour is definitely from the top. Take off from nearby Rose Bay and fly the skies in a Sydney seaplane, taking in Bondi Beach, the Harbour Bridge and Opera House before lunch at Catalina Restaurant in Rose Bay, one of Sydney’s premier restaurants.
- ON: Ever dreamed of taking out your own boat on Sydney Harbour? Driving under the Harbour Bridge and stopping for a quick dip in the ocean near Manly? Our Concierge team can help organize a chartered boat with a licensed skipper, or if you’d prefer, you can self-drive. Sit back and enjoy the harbour with a picnic lunch for two and don’t forget the sunscreen.
- UNDER: A little further away from the Harbour lies one of the best dive sites for scuba diving in Sydney By far the most popular dive at Camp Cove, the north reef features the most abundant marine life. This consists of large boulders, overhangs, swim-throughs and walls with a maximum depth of 5-6 metres (16-20 feet) at high tide. This dive is excellent for underwater photography as well as night diving, when divers are rewarded with a spectacular view of the lit CBD skyline at the end of the dive.
