Four Seasons Resort Hualalai to Host PGA Mitsubishi Electric Championship in January 2024

Champions Tour season-opening tournament to take place at Hualalai Golf Course January 18-20, 2024

December 20, 2023,
Hawaii, Hualalai, U.S.A.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, the only Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond Resort on Hawaii Island, will remain the host hotel of the Champions Tour’s season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship, as announced by the PGA TOUR and Mitsubishi Electric.

A tradition since 1997, the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai Golf Course is scheduled for a Saturday finish from January 18 to 20, 2024. The event features an elite field of the tournament champions from the past two seasons, as well as the senior major championship winners from the last five years. The tournament, on Hawaii Island, is the starting point of the season for the Champions Tour and boasts the second-longest span at one venue – Hualalai Golf Course – in Champions Tour history. Mitsubishi Electric has been the title sponsor since 2009.

Since the Hawaii inception of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai in 1997, the tournament has made a significant economic and charitable impact on Hawaii's Big Island community. Charitable donations from the tournament have helped support the complete turf renovation of the Kona Soccer fields and public park facilities in Kailua-Kona, fund the ESP Dance Club for girls, acquire state-of-the-art equipment for the local Kona hospital to diagnose and detect kidney stones, and beautify the Kona Old Airport Community Park and Walking/Jogging Paths. The Rotary Club of Kona Youth Foundation also provides scholarship support to selected high school seniors each year. Total charitable donations are estimated at USD 1.9 million invested back into the Hawaii community.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai recently underwent a USD 100+ million renovation, fully renovating the Hualalai Golf Course and introducing the new Hualalai Golf Hale to residents and guests. The 3,000-square-foot (280 square metre), state-of-the-art facility is a leading-edge practice and instruction complex offering golfers and non-golfers hours of entertainment. Located at the Hualalai driving range, the Hualalai Golf Hale is outfitted with an indoor Topgolf Swing Suite with a variation of games and practice sessions for all ages, three outdoor hitting bays with TrackMan launch monitors—allowing one to track, monitor and analyze their swing—and unique programming such as the Ohana Golf Lesson, allowing the whole family to learn together from one of the expert instructors of the Hualalai Golf Academy. Not only is the new facility available for recreation and leisure, but it allows for guests to practice their skills in their own personal bays or do a full buy-out for a personalized experience.

Guests attending the PGA Mitsubishi Electric Championship will now have access to the recently opened Miller & Lux Hualalai restaurant overlooking the golf course. Miller & Lux Hualalai is the brainchild of acclaimed chef Tyler Florence, who selected Hualalai as the second location for his accoladed San Francisco-based American steakhouse. Guests can expect high quality cuts of beef, Miller & Lux signature tableside presentations, and an award-winning wine list.
