Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Hosts Champion Freediver, Spearfisher, Chef and Author Kimi Werner for Book Signing and One-Night Dining Takeover

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai announces a weekend with Kimi Werner, champion freediver, spearfisher, ocean conservationist and published author of Kimi’s Kitchen, An Ocean Woman’s Guide to Wild Home Cooking.  The weekend of events will offer a unique opportunity to meet Werner, learn about her lifelong commitment to the ocean, and enjoy a special menu featuring recipes from Kimi’s Kitchen.

Werner has been a long-time collaborator with Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, launching her exclusive free diving Only at Hualalai experience in 2022. In this experience, guests receive a customized free-diving lesson from Werner, integrating the various mindfulness and breathing techniques required for the sport. She then takes guests out on the ocean fronting Hualalai, for a day of free-diving and swimming in Werner’s favorite locations around the island. 

The weekend begins Friday, July 17, 2026, at 4:00 pm with a conservation-focused talk story between Nicole Tachibana, Director of Natural Resources for Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, and Werner at Kumu Kai Marine Center. This 30-minute event will be open exclusively to guests of the Resort. 

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the Resort will offer two opportunities to engage with the author. The evening begins at 4:00 p.m. with a special presentation and book signing event featuring Werner in conversation with Justin Lee, local spear-fisher, bowhunter, and freediver. During this engaging discussion, she will share her story, her passion for sourcing her food sustainably, and the ocean and land adventures that inspire the recipes throughout her recently released cookbook. Tickets are USD 45 and include admission to the presentation, a complimentary beverage, a copy of Kimi’s Kitchen, and the opportunity to have it personally signed by Werner preceding the event. 

Kimi’s Kitchen, An Ocean Woman’s Guide to Wild Home Cooking, is more than a cookbook,” said Werner. “It’s the recipes that have raised me, but it’s also a collection of stories, philosophies, and stunning imagery gathered from a lifetime spent in the ocean.  It’s basically my heart in a book and I feel honoured to share it with the community of the Big Island.”

Following the book signing, guests are invited to continue the experience at 'ULU for a special Sustainable Seafood menu. From 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Werner will be on-site to connect with diners enjoying an exclusive four-course menu inspired by recipes from Kimi’s Kitchen. Offered alongside 'ULU’s à la carte menu, this one-night culinary experience celebrates sustainably sourced ingredients from the ocean, showcasing the flavors of Hawai‘i and Werner’s commitment to responsible harvesting and sea-to-table cooking.
