Ocean Bottle Debuts at Four Seasons Resorts Lanai

Guests at Four Seasons Resort Lanai and Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort will be welcomed with a new in-room amenity when checking in – an Ocean Bottle reusable flask. Every Ocean Bottle is made from double-wall vacuum-insulated, recycled stainless steel that is leakproof, BPA-free and funds the collection of 1,000 plastic bottles. The bottle has a smooth carrying loop, allowing for easy transport, and is dishwasher safe.

Ocean Bottle is a social impact company with a mission to stop plastic pollution at its source. The company partners with organizations to open plastic collection points in areas where plastic pollution is worst and enable collectors to exchange plastic for money and access social resources such as healthcare, education and financial security. Each Ocean Bottle sold funds the collection of 25 pounds (11.4 kilograms) of ocean-bound plastic, equivalent to the weight of 1,000 single-use plastic bottles.

The first purchase by Four Seasons Resort Lanai will fund the collection of 200,000 pounds (90,700 kilograms) of ocean-bound plastic, which equates to 8 million plastic bottles and will invest the equivalent to 94,000 pounds (42,500 kilograms) in blue carbon credits against the production of these bottles, in the efforts of decarbonising their supply chain. The bottles come embedded with an NFC enabled smart-chip, which allows owners to register the bottle to the Ocean Bottle Mobile App to further fund the collection of ocean-bound plastic (for free) each time a refill is registered, thus delivering positive steps towards climate action. Both properties have also installed FloWater refill stations so guests can quench their thirst as they set off on island and wellness adventures. FloWater’s technology transforms tap water through an advanced osmosis system into the world’s best-tasting, most purified water, which is delivered on-demand and eliminates the use of plastic bottles. Since its launch, FloWater estimates its stations have displaced more than 100 million plastic bottles. Guests can find refill stations at Guest Services, Activities, the Fitness Centre, the Pool and Manele Golf Course at Four Seasons Resort Lanai, and the North and South Wings, Pool, and Yoga Pavilion at Sensei Lanai. The stations have saved more than 500,000 bottles since their installation.
