"The bar is like the scenery, and the service like a dance," says Nico Castro, who studied acting for ten years when he was young. Thanks to his family, Nico loves music and art in general, so when he discovered mixology, he fell in love of what is now his profession.

"I am still surprised when a guest is hypnotized while we prepare a cocktail, or while we share a story with them. It´s very similar to performing a magic trick.”

"Every time you compete, you push yourself to the next level." Nico had built his career in Argentina, working in the best cocktails bars in Buenos Aires, such as Frank´s Bar (#36 in the World’s 50 Best Bars in 2012), where he worked as bar manager until 2015. The same year Nico participated in Bacardí Legacy and got the 3rd place in the Argentinian final, and won the Angostura Challenge. "Competition is not only about winning, it’s to strive to be better, to know new people and have fun.”

"I love travelling, since I was a child. Mixology gave me the opportunity to know new places, cities, countries, cultures, peoples and more." After a year and a half in Quito, Ecuador, where he opened a bar and managed a restaurant, he decided to move to Lima, Peru to create his own brand: Bitter Cocktail Club. That bar was the first speakeasy bar in Lima and was mentioned in 50 Best Discovery in 2018.

In 2018 Nico won the Diageo World Class Competition in Peru, and represented that country at the global final in Berlin, where he placed 14th among 57 countries.

His last project before Four Seasons was his own restaurant in Lima, a tea bar concept.

"People recognize me for mixology, but my true specialty is service." Nico has always worked in hospitality, and the idea of moving to Mexico City to learn and grow in the leading hotel company was perfect for him and his wife.

"I have the best job in the world," he explains with joy. Now Nico can be found at Fifty Mils Bar, creating new recipes for the menu, building a strong bar team and enjoying the beautiful view of the courtyard.

His goals are to keep learning and work for the company for many years, travelling the world’s Four Seasons properties while sharing his knowledge with passion and love.
