Matthew Seynard is driven by a strong commitment to effecting positive environmental change. With a background marked by leadership roles in prestigious hotel groups, including an 18-month stint at Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives and 14 years with IHG in Australia, he brings a wealth of experience to the team at Four Seasons Safari Lodge. With a celebrated track record in award-winning properties and a dedicated focus on sustainability and luxury, his transition to the Serengeti has been enjoyable.  Matthew loves connecting with people, cultures and the environment and thrives in an environment where he has the opportunity to connect all three to create a memorable guest experience. The fact that he is part of the most awe-inspiring team in the African wilderness with a rich and unique biodiversity, which guests travel from around the globe to experience, marries his passions together. Personally, Matthew is an avid photographer and conservation enthusiast committed to preserving the planet for future generations, but that does not hide the fact that, like many Australians, he is a passionate sports fan, particularly Rugby League and Australian Rules Football.

Offering up advice to travellers to the Serengeti, Matthew says: “The Serengeti is one of the greatest wildernesses on earth. This part of the world has captivated my imagination since I was a child due to its rich and unique biodiversity and cultural history. When making the long journey to the Serengeti, make sure you allow plenty of time to experience everything the destination has to offer.”

“While you may feel like a week in one place could be too long, there is so much to do. No two Safari drives are the same, and you should definitely include time to scratch beneath the surface of the local customs and culture; you won't be disappointed.”
