A short drive south of San Francisco opens up a world of possibility this fall, as Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto invites connoisseurs of art and cuisine to savour all the South Bay area has to offer. It’s a season of glorious colours, perfect weather, numerous fall festivals and abundant local harvests.

The concierge team at Four Seasons has put together a list of exclusive fall recommendations for art lovers, culture fans and foodies. Created in partnership with Gowalla, a location-based mobile and web service, the list begins with breakfast at one of Menlo Park’s best-kept secrets, and continues to the Stanford Courtyard, where the world’s largest collection of Rodin sculptures outside Paris awaits. A Greek lunch in Palo Alto is another special find. There’s plenty of time for shopping before dinner, and perhaps a concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre (tip: ask the Concierge to assist with tickets to Rascal Flatts, Neil Young, Jimmy Buffet, the Jonas Brothers and other hot shows).

Want to Experience More? Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley is offering another reason to visit this fall – a USD 100.00 room credit with a two-night stay. Guests may apply the credit to dinner in Quattro, a local favourite for its seasonal Italian fare – featuring regional ingredients and wines from the Santa Cruz Valley – or perhaps towards a treatment at The Spa.

From now until November 19, 2010, Gowalla members also receive an additional USD 50.00 credit when staying a minimum of two nights at Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto. All they need to do is "check in" with Gowalla upon their arrival at the Hotel to receive concierge recommendations and special-offer details, and then "check in" at three or more recommended locations during their stay. Later, they simply show their phone to the Front Desk at Four Seasons to receive the credit, which can be applied to treatments and services at The Spa, or to a meal in Quattro.

With an entire weekend to play, there’s time to wander the small communities of South Bay, with their galleries, antique shops and bistros. The Los Altos Fall Festival (October 2 and 3), the San Carlos Art and Wine Faire (October 9 and 10) and the Menlo Park Sidewalk Arts and Crafts Fall Fest (October 15-17) are just three of the many fall fairs to be enjoyed.

Guests may also be inspired by the Hotel’s newly installed contemporary art collection. Paintings, drawings, etchings, photographs and other works on canvas and paper are on display throughout the Hotel, showcasing local artists such as Mirang Wonne and Jimi Gleason. Be sure to check out Mitchell Confer’s mixed-media piece in the elevator lobby, created especially for the space. The collection also includes several works by Tom Swanston, whose passions for poetry, filmmaking and comedy come through in his multi-layered pieces.

Also recommended: visit the Buildings on Paper: Architectural Drawings exhibit at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University before it closes on October 17.
