January 8, 2024,
London at Ten Trinity Square

This February, Mei Ume will ring in the Year of the Dragon with a program of cultural celebrations and sumptuous banquet menu in honour of the occasion.

Available for lunch and dinner from February 5 to 24, 2024, Chef Peter Ho has prepared a multi-course feasting menu that showcases traditional and auspicious dishes eaten at the reunion dinner on Chinese New Year.

To begin, guests will take part in the Yu Sheng ritual, or Prosperity Toss Salad, a tangy salad traditionally eaten while standing and tossed with chopsticks, with the higher the toss indicating the better the luck that person will have in the New Year.

A selection of delicious and authentic courses follow, including slow cooked five heads Australian abalone, succulent eight-treasures duck, steamed jumbo king prawns, braised vegetables with fermented red bean curd and more. To finish, guests will enjoy a dessert of Tang Hulu, a sweet and sour treat enjoyed at Chinese New Year that symbolizes happiness for the year ahead.

For guests looking to celebrate the occasion with friends and family, Mei Ume's private dining room, The Chairman’s Room, will offer the perfect setting. Separated from the main restaurant by discreet sliding bamboo screens, up to 12 diners can be seated around one large circular table, offering the ultimate shared feasting experience.

Those celebrating at Mei Ume for dinner on February 10 and 17 will also be treated to live cultural performances, including a mesmerizing Chinese Lion Dance and an authentic Chinese dance performance featuring beautiful costumes inspired by the traditional Miao and vibrant red QiPao styles, as well as Chinese fans, umbrellas and Yao long drums.

Year of the Dragon Fortune Boxes are also available for purchase, allowing guests to share their well wishes for prosperity and luck with friends and loved ones. The Fortune Boxes offer a selection of delicious such as Chinese pastries, rice cake and more making for an auspicious gift for the season.

The Chinese New Year feasting menu will be available at Mei Ume from February 5 to 24, 2024, and priced at GBP 188 per person.  Reservations may be made online or via meiume.tentrinity@fourseasons.com. Fortune Boxes are priced at GBP 88 and can be purchased online.
