For generations, dim sum has been at the heart of Cantonese dining, bringing people together around the table through a tradition defined by craftsmanship, precision, and shared experience. At Yu Ting Yuan, the Michelin-recommended Cantonese restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, this enduring tradition enters a new chapter with the arrival of Dim Sum Chef Zhao Yan.

Marking his arrival, Yu Ting Yuan introduces a refined dim sum lunch alongside an expanded à la carte dim sum lunch selection. Designed for the way Bangkok dines today, the new offerings move effortlessly between business lunches, family gatherings, and leisurely afternoons with friends. Together, they reflect both the discipline of traditional Cantonese craftsmanship and a growing appreciation for refined everyday dining.

"Dim sum has always been about bringing people together," says Executive Chinese Chef Tommy Cheung. "Whether it's a family meal, a weekend gathering, or a quick lunch with colleagues, these are dishes that create moments of connection around the table. Chef Zhao brings a deep respect for this tradition, along with the precision and care that define exceptional dim sum.”

Originally from Shanxi Province in northern China, Chef Zhao Yan has dedicated much of his culinary career to mastering the intricate art of Cantonese dim sum. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and respect for traditional techniques, he approaches each creation with a focus on balance, texture, and precision. His philosophy centres on allowing quality ingredients and time-honoured craftsmanship to speak for themselves, resulting in dim sum that feels both authentic and refined. At Yu Ting Yuan, Chef Zhao brings this disciplined approach to a new generation of Cantonese dining, honouring tradition while responding to the tastes and expectations of today's guests.

Each dish has been personally selected to showcase the artistry that defines Cantonese dim sum. Seasonal creations featuring premium ingredients, such as matsutake mushrooms, highlight a thoughtful interplay of texture, flavour, and technique. Every element reflects the care and precision that lie at the heart of the dim sum tradition.

Beyond the set lunch experience, the expanded à la carte menu reflects Bangkok's dynamic dining culture, allowing guests to curate their own experience, whether stopping in for a few signature favourites or gathering around the table to explore a broader selection together.

Chef Zhao’s new dim sum set lunch is available from Monday to Friday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, priced at THB 1,500++ per person, inclusive of free-flow tea. Additionally, Yu Ting Yuan's Signature Dim Sum Lunch has also been enhanced by Chef Zhao and remains available daily at THB 1,950++ per person.

Whether enjoyed as a weekday business lunch, a family gathering, or a leisurely afternoon with friends, Chef Zhao's new menus reaffirm Yu Ting Yuan's commitment to honouring Cantonese tradition while creating meaningful moments of connection around the table.
