A Few of Our Favourite Things: Bangkok’s Secret Itineraries

Put aside the guidebook, and let the Concierge team at Four Seasons reveal under-the-radar experiences across Thailand’s vibrant capital

Bangkok, Thailand

Situated on Bangkok’s coveted riverside in the heart of the Creative District, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River is the ideal hub to explore Bangkok’s emerging artistic scene. The Concierge team at the Hotel has put together a list of their favourite spots to help travellers discover the many sides of Bangkok, including lesser-known local attractions. These in-the-know recommendations come straight from the experts and are sure to inspire first-time visitors to Bangkok connoisseurs.

Board an Exclusive Chao Phraya River Cruise in a Hand-Made Hacker-Craft Boat

Discover life by the Chao Phraya River in a whole new way aboard a hand-built mahogany wood Hacker-Craft Boat. Watch the scenery of Bangkok from past to present float by while sipping Champagne in a private boat and see Bangkok’s top sites from the river including the Temple of Dawn, the Grand Palace, and the diverse local communities.

Classically designed, the Hacker-Craft Boat combines meticulous craftsmanship with innovative creativity. The Four Seasons Concierge team recommends booking at sunset to catch golden hour and the start to a perfect Bangkok night.

Explore the Hidden Forest of Bangkok’s Green Lung

Located just down river from Four Seasons, Bang Krachao, better known as the Green Lung, is a cyclist and any nature lover’s dream. Over 16 square kilometres (six square miles), Bang Krachao is a great escape from the hustle of the city, best explored on bike. Reminiscent of a classic Thai country village, the roads are narrow, with traditional wooden houses and shops lining the streets among the many palm trees and flowers.

The Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Gardens offer an abundance of natural features to enjoy, from flowers to scenic water features. Its quaint walkways are perfect for romantic souls, and the various viewpoints provide a pretty place to recover from all that cycling. The Four Seasons Concierge team recommends heading to Bang Krachao first thing in the morning via boat directly from the Hotel to beat the crowds and mid-day heat.

Discover Bangkok’s Thriving Artistic Scene in the Creative District and Talad Noi

An easy boat ride from the Hotel, the Creative District and Talad Noi are one of Bangkok’s oldest neighbourhoods filled with historic temples, charming shop houses, elegant colonial mansions and narrow, winding laneways bursting with street art. A new generation of Thais have reclaimed the community, opening art galleries, cafes, boutiques, restaurants and bars in old shop houses while retaining the charm of the buildings.

Delightfully walkable, the Creative District and Talad Noi are best explored on foot as you wander off the beaten path. Undergoing a true renaissance, there is something for everyone in every budget. The Four Seasons Concierge team recommends booking the Creative Discovery Tour at the Hotel to get the way of the land before exploring the neighbourhood on your own.  Not to be missed, Warehouse 30 is an industrial-chic former Japanese military warehouse offering a community arts space with vendors, galleries, food and films, and more. Down the street, ATT-19 Gallery is a multidisciplinary retail, contemporary art gallery, and events space run by a Thai family who has been in the neighbourhood for decades.

Sip Cocktails at Thailand’s Best Bar

Located at Four Seasons, BKK Social Club celebrates the legendary allure of Buenos Aires and the energy of today’s Bangkok. In 2022, the bar was named #14 Best Bar in the World by famed The World’s 50 Best Bars 2022 list. Since opening in December 2020, the team has been recognized among the best in the world, including the London Essence Best New Opening Award at the same event.

The Four Seasons Bangkok Concierge team recommends checking out the “Taste of BKK Social Club” experience offered as part of the Hotel’s activities calendar. This complimentary activity allows guests to chat with one of the BKK Social Club bartenders and taste cocktails from each of the bar’s menu sections celebrating the People, Parties and Places that make Buenos Aries great.
