Michelin-Starred Expertise Arrives at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza with New Executive Chef Gerald Genson
Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza announces the appointment of Executive Chef Gerald Genson, a French culinary talent with more than two decades of experience in some of the most prestigious kitchens in the world. From the Michelin-starred restaurants of France to acclaimed luxury hotels across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Chef Genson brings a world of flavour, expertise and culinary innovation to the hotel’s ten diverse dining destinations.
A French native, Genson’s culinary story began at a young age. “I still remember the first fish I ever caught,” he recalls with a smile. “My godfather, who was a chef, showed me how to clean and cook it. I was amazed by how something so simple could become something extraordinary — that moment sparked my lifelong passion for cooking.” By the age of 14, he had already committed to the profession, spending weekends and holidays in kitchens while studying at the renowned Paul Augier Hospitality School in Nice. Genson’s career took shape in some of France’s most celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants, including Le Chabichou in Courchevel and Le Mas du Langoustier in Porquerolles, before expanding globally. He has honed his skills to renowned luxury properties, including Park Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental and The Ritz-Carlton.
As he steps into his new role, Chef Genson will oversee all culinary operations at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, including leading an expert banquet team that manages the country’s most impressive and significant events, catering for up to 2,500 guests. His leadership combines innovation with authenticity. Continuing the hotel’s legacy of culinary excellence and innovation, Chef Genson's leadership promises to bring a refined balance of French technique and local inspiration. His approach aims to deliver elevated dining experiences that celebrate both craftsmanship and creativity.
Now in Cairo, Chef Genson is eager to immerse himself in Egypt’s rich culinary heritage and vibrant local scene. “This city has so much to offer — from its bustling markets to its timeless flavours. I’m excited to discover how these new influences can weave into my cooking and shape the next chapter of my journey,” he shares. Away from the kitchen he enjoys travelling with his family, exploring markets, playing golf, and indulging his passion for vintage cars.
