The annual charity concert at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai returns with an uplifting performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s historic Baroque masterpiece The Four Seasons on March 25, 2023. Led by maestro violinist Dr. Tasana Nagavajara, guests can enjoy the most-acclaimed concertos ever written by the Italian maestro, performed by the Pro Musica trio.

“As a brand that draws its identity from the same four seasons that inspired Vivaldi, we are proud to present a trio from Pro Musica who will be performing a unique adaptation of the concerti,” smiles Sean Mosher, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai.

The presentation by the Pro Musica trio of Tasana Nagavajara, Victor Gurulev, and Kittikhun Sodpresert, is an adaptation of each concerto for the violin, accordion, and violoncello, respectively. “This remarkable sequence of four violin concertos remains a seminal piece of Baroque music, with its distinctive characterisations of sounds from nature,” shares Dr. Nagavajara. Antonio Vivaldi’s most famous composition, first published in 1725, is a set of four violin concertos, considered “programmatic” music in that each composition is paired with a sonnet about one of the four seasons of the year. “The composer may have written the sonnets himself, although that is still under debate,” he says. He also added dramatic cues on individual parts, such as “dog barking” in the slow movement of Spring concerto. “This extra-musical reference was avant-garde at the time, and the reception to the work varied widely, from adulation to mockery,” he smiles.

As part of the Resort’s annual charitable efforts, the concert will raise awareness in aid of The Look Kaew Lanna Foundation.
