Pondkaran (Pohn-ka-ran), fondly known as Khun Aoi, is a true-blue Northern girl, having been brought up among the beautiful scenery of hills and paddies. With lush tropical landscaping and working rice paddy fields being central to experience at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, Pondkaran brings the right expertise to further the vision of this Resort.

Having completed both a BA in Fine Arts (Painting) from Chiang Mai University, as well as an MA (Cultural Management) from Chulalongkorn University, Pondkaran has undertaken many professional assignments in Chiang Mai and also across the country. Ranging from creative consultant to copy writer and even handling the design and décor for Royal Project exhibitions, she has accumulated enough experience in both the creative as well as the management aspects of being a designer. “All canvases – whether landscape or architectural – are a work of art,” she shares, “I am always excited to see how they evolve over time and take on new shape or meaning with small changes.”

Having started her career as cultural activities coordinator at Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai Resort a decade ago, she returned to the hotel in 2012, where she served as landscape specialist, charged with maintaining the landscape, as well as all livestock and inventory for the property with her team of supervisors and gardeners. She moved on to work as a freelance designer with her own art workshop at the Central Airport Plaza, Chiang Mai – an opportunity that brought together her talent and enthusiasm for the arts.

Being an artist at heart, her free time is always centred around her many hobbies: drawing, painting, cooking and playing her guitar.

In her role, the Resort is the perfect playground to showcase her versatility in the arts and rich background in creative roles. “I am keen to express myself and my creative spirit in the evolving landscape of the Resort,” she smiles.
