Sports has had a major influence on Surachai’s life from a very early age, with volleyball and aerobics being his favourites. As he grew older, his interest in the field helped him gain more knowledge on the various aspects of sports including the rules and regulations, strategies, and training athletes.

A graduate in Sports Science, Surachai’s dream job, however, was in the hospitality industry. He began his career as a trainee at Dusit Resort and Polo Club Hotel in Hua Hin, where he improved his skills in tennis, squash, and horse riding. “I was keen on continuing my interest in sports, but also developing my skills in the recreational aspect of it,” he shares. As his interests evolved, opportunities came knocking. Hired as the assistant health club manager at Chedi Chiang Mai Hotel, Surachai honed his expertise in strength training and fitness, designing exercise programs for guests at the hotel. “Seeing the results and receiving positive feedback from guests motivates me to be better at my job every day,” he smiles. He was soon hired as health club manager at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort Hotel, where he was in charge of all the wellness program and experiences.

With more than 20 years of experience, Khun Oh, as he is fondly nicknamed, brings a wealth of experience to Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai. A certified fitness trainer, he is not only focused on physical training but also the mental benefits. “Good health cannot be bought,” he affirms, “One needs to work at it - everyday. When we take care of our body, our mind stays healthy too.”

For Surachai, self-care is a priority as he spends most of his free time practicing mindfulness. A visit to the temple with his family is a must on most days when he is not at work, besides making merit and blessing at other pilgrim sites across Chiang Mai. He finds cooking meals with his wife is therapeutic, while catching up with live sporting action is on top of his list of hobbies. “Sports is a passion and also my livelihood – how lucky am I to be able to enjoy it daily,” he smiles.
