Abril Callender Named Executive Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Austin
Acclaimed culinary leader brings Latin-inspired flavours, vegan expertise and a passion for sustainability to Texas luxury destination




Four Seasons Hotel Austin announces the appointment of Abril Callender as its new Executive Chef. With a rich culinary background rooted in Latin flavours, a deep commitment to sustainability and a growing expertise in innovative vegan cuisine, Chef Callender brings a fresh, passionate vision to the hotel’s renowned culinary program.
“From the moment Abril walked into our kitchen as an intern back in 2012, it was clear she belonged here,” says Frank Tosti, Director of Food and Beverage, Four Seasons Hotel Austin. “Her creative leadership, dedication to excellence and warmth have shaped some of our most memorable dining experiences. We are thrilled to welcome her as Executive Chef and look forward to the inspired culinary journey she will lead.”
Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Chef Abril’s earliest memories are steeped in a diverse culinary landscape—from vibrant Mexican street foods to the unique offerings of her uncle’s Chinese restaurant. Initially on a path toward medicine, her passion for cooking was ignited during a stay in Vancouver, where simple home cooking revealed a world of flavour and creativity.
After gaining valuable experience at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, she returned to Four Seasons Hotel Austin in 2015 as Banquet Chef and steadily advanced to Executive Sous Chef by 2018. Known for leading the hotel’s most high-profile events, Chef Abril introduced imaginative offerings such as Ciclo’s iconic Tomahawk Experience and championed dietary innovation with responsibly sourced ingredients.
In addition to her Latin-inspired roots, Chef Abril has developed a particular expertise in vegan cuisine, inspired by collaborations on all-vegan menus that revealed the creativity and tradition inherent in plant-based cooking. This passion complements her dedication to wellness and sustainability, which she now integrates into the culinary philosophy at Four Seasons Hotel Austin.
