The Hotel’s exclusive new gym brings the expertise of celebrity fitness guru Harley Pasternak to the Middle East

Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay is a bastion of luxury urban living in an island resort setting. Opening September 2020, the Hotel’s newest gym offers a comprehensive workout, designed by Four Seasons Global Fitness Advisor Harley Pasternak.

As the fitness guru to the stars and fitness and nutrition top selling author, Harley Pasternak’s career began with an MSc in Exercise Physiology and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto. He then served as an advisor to his native Canada’s Department of National Defence before heading for the bright lights of Los Angeles. As Four Seasons Global Fitness Advisor, guests can now benefit from Harley’s unique take on fitness, adapted to the world’s most exclusive settings from bustling downtown centres to windswept beaches.

The new gym at Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay is Harley’s first collaboration in the Middle East, with a signature design, intuitive flow from station to station, and the latest equipment from HOIST Fitness. A private area dedicated to personal training, a complete range of cardio and strength equipment is showcased. Harley’s favourite machine, however, is the MotionCage circuit trainer, ideal for small groups with multiple stations offering everything from squat rack and jump station to battle ropes and a punching bag.

Harley’s approach to working out is all about efficiency, flexibility and effect. This is reflected in his choice of equipment, which encourages natural movements. He comments on the gym’s design: “I think a lot about flow and layout. We have stations set up so you can hop from one piece of equipment to the next and seamlessly complete a circuit. There are always options, so guests can adapt their workouts to their specific needs.”

Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay offers annual spa memberships, with access to two gyms (one exclusively for women), the pools and 160 metres (525 feet) of private beach. Group classes at the gym include aerial yoga, Zumba, spin and the new MotionCage circuit training. Members can also opt for personal training, with a team of globally certified professionals with specialties that go well beyond the traditional, including powerlifting, triathlon training, body combat and dance. Guests on the go will also enjoy Harley’s workout videos on the Four Seasons App, addressing five of the most common fitness challenges experienced by travellers.

Lead With Care

Grounded in health care expertise and enabled by access to leading technologies and tools, the Lead With Care program is focused on providing care, confidence and comfort to all Four Seasons guests, employees and members within the new COVID-19 environment. The new program outlines clear procedures that educate and empower Four Seasons employees to take care of guests and each other.

While guests will see many of the enhanced Lead With Care procedures, behind-the-scenes measures are also taking place through employee training, additional food handling protocols, and enhancements to ventilation systems and other back-of-the-house operations.

In addition, Four Seasons continues to invest in its award-winning App and Chat that further allows guests to control how they engage with others – limiting face-to-face interactions while maintaining the highest levels of personal service.
