Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza Celebrates the Opening of the World’s Most Anticipated Museum

The Grand Egyptian Museum: A new era begins

October 22, 2025,
Cairo at Nile Plaza, Egypt

On November 1, 2025, the doors will open to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — the largest archaeological museum in the world and the most significant cultural launch of the 21st century. Just a short drive away, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza invites travellers to experience history in unmatched comfort and style.

About the GEM

Set to be one of the most significant cultural landmarks in the world, the state-of-the-art museum promises to offer an unparalleled experience by showcasing more than 100,000 pharaonic artefacts.

The highlight of the opening is the King Tutankhamen exhibition, which will display the entire treasure collection from the young pharaoh’s tomb — some 5,000 objects, many of which will be on public view for the first time. This includes the famous golden death mask, jewellery, chariots, furniture, and ceremonial beds, all presented in a newly designed gallery that recreates the discovery of the tomb. Visitors can also explore interactive displays delving into the latest discoveries about Tutankhamen’s legacy, as well as see monumental statues and immersive digital experiences that bring ancient Egypt to life. Other standout exhibitions include a reconstructed Khufu ship, otherwise known as a solar barque (vessels used by the sun god Ra).

A Home in Cairo for GEM Discovery

Set against the backdrop of the timeless Nile, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza serves as a welcoming base for guests to explore this bucket-list destination, blending modern luxury with authentic Egyptian artistry. The newly designed Premium Rooms and Suites, designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, draw inspiration from the flowing lines of the Nile and feature original Egyptian artwork. Enjoy a serene and culturally rich retreat after a day of enlightening exploration.

“The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum is a moment the world has been waiting for, and we are privileged to offer our guests a front-row seat,” says Yves Giacometti, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza. “Whether it’s a private tour arranged by our concierge, a Nile-view breakfast before you set out, or an evening spa ritual to reflect on the day, every detail is designed to make this historic moment unforgettable.”

A Journey Through Time — and Taste

After walking through 7,000 years of history, guests can indulge in Egypt-inspired spa rituals — from Cleopatra’s signature milk and honey baths to herbal poultices infused with locally grown mint, cloves, and chamomile. At Zitouni, the Hotel’s Egyptian restaurant, authentic dishes such as molokhia and fattah, and freshly baked Baladi bread and selection of Egyptian mezze are served with sweeping Nile views. In addition, the Hotel offers an additional nine curated dining options to suit every palate.

With Cairo as a base, guests can pair their GEM visit with private excursions to the Pyramids of Giza, Saqqara, Old Cairo, or touring the ancient Bazaar of Khan El Khalili — returning each evening to the elegance and warmth of Four Seasons service.
