Weaving Joy into the Festive Season at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai
In the misty mountains of Northern Thailand, the festive season takes on a distinctly Chiang Mai character – shaped by Lanna traditions, local craftsmanship, shared tables and time spent with those who matter most. At Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, this year’s celebrations bring these elements together through a season rooted in connection, generosity and a sense of place.
“At its heart, the festive season is about connection,” says Ivan Giles, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai. “Whether gathering with family around the table, discovering local traditions, or giving back to the community, we hope every guest experiences the warmth, generosity and sense of belonging that defines Chiang Mai at this special time of year.”
Celebrations Woven with Purpose
At Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, the festive season begins with a story of connection. This year, that story takes shape through Weave the Joy, an initiative that brings together local craftsmanship and community support, with the Resort’s Christmas tree becoming a celebration of Chiang Mai’s creative spirit.
At the heart of the initiative are handcrafted ornaments created by Four Seasons team members using locally sourced Chiang Mai cotton. Each piece reflects the craftsmanship of the region and a thoughtful approach to festive decoration. Together on the Christmas tree in the lobby, they tell a story of the hands, traditions and community behind them.
Guests are invited to take a piece of this story home. The handcrafted ornaments will be available as keepsakes throughout the festive season, with all proceeds supporting a Cancer Care project in Thailand.
A Season for Gathering
The season begins with Thanksgiving on November 26, with an evening under the stars at NORTH by Four Seasons, the Thanksgiving Barbecue Dinner brings guests together around open-fire cooking, seasonal ingredients and the simple pleasure of sharing a meal outdoors in the Mae Rim Valley.
On Christmas Eve, Rim Tai Kitchen welcomes families for a festive dinner accompanied by live music, the evening brings generations together around the table, with a special appearance by Santa Claus and Santa Rina for younger guests.
Christmas Day unfolds across two distinctive settings. At Rim Tai Kitchen, a generous lunch brings together Thai, Asian and Western favourites, fresh seafood and dishes from the grill, accompanied by live music and family experiences. At NORTH by Four Seasons, a family-style prix fixe dinner offers a more intimate gathering overlooking the rice fields.
As the year draws to a close, the Resort turns towards New Year’s Eve. On December 31, the Magic of Thailand New Year’s Eve Celebration brings guests together on the Cocktail Lawn for an evening of food, music and Northern Thai culture.
Live grilling stations, seafood and charcuterie are accompanied by traditional Lanna dance performances and music, bringing a distinctly Northern Thai sense of place to the celebration before the evening builds towards the Four Seasons midnight countdown.
Beginning the New Year Together
On the first morning of 2027, KHAO by Four Seasons welcomes guests for a New Year’s Day meal overlooking the rice fields. International flavours, live music and time shared with family and friends create a warm beginning to the year ahead.
The festive season at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai is more than a calendar of celebrations. It is an invitation to experience the destination through its flavours, craftsmanship, landscape and Lanna traditions, while spending meaningful time with the people who matter most.
From cotton ornaments made by hand and shared in support of the community to festive tables and Lanna traditions beneath the stars, the season brings together craftsmanship, generosity and connection – a celebration shaped by Chiang Mai and the people who bring it to life.
