From June 7 to 28, 2024, experience the Vietnamese art of healing with Alex Scrimgeour, an expert visiting practitioner at Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai. A master of Dien Chan facial reflexology, Alex invites guests on a voyage of physical and emotional revitalization, with a focus on full-body balance and adaptability.
During his residency at the Resort, Alex will offer his signature Dien Chan therapy, alongside a series of treatments reflecting his expertise in acupuncture, Qi Gong and body massage.
Unravelling the Mystery of Dien Chan
In Dien Chan, the face is regarded as a microcosm of the body. Certain facial points are intricately linked to organs and functions across the body via the nervous system. By stimulating these vital points using specialized tools, healers such as Alex facilitate an invigorating flow of energy, helping to rebalance the nervous, hormonal and circulatory systems. Along with promoting relaxation, immunity and sleep quality, Dien Chan also creates the ideal conditions to release mental and emotional burdens, thus refreshing the spirit.
The origins of this practice can be traced back to the heart of Vietnamese culture, where facial massage has long been a means of fostering vitality. In the 1980s, Professor Bui Quoc Chau advanced this centuries-old tradition to develop "multi-reflexology," leading to the development of Dien Chan as we know it today.
Dien Chan offers a profound connection to Vietnam’s rich wellness heritage. More than just a therapeutic modality, it is a reflection of the country’s holistic approach to healing, woven around a core belief in the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit. The Heart of the Earth Spa at The Nam Hai also echoes this concept by embodying the essence of "interbeing," the inherent link between humanity and nature.
