A Journey Inward: Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan Launches Transformative Silent Retreat Led by Resident Healers
Available from May 23, 2026, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan invites guests to return to stillness with a transformative Silent Retreat set within Bali’s revered Ayung River valley. Over seven days and six nights, tranquillity seekers can disconnect from modern life and rediscover inner peace guided by nature’s rhythms and the resort’s resident healers. Airport transfers, plant-based meals, spa treatments, yoga, meditation and personal advice are all included, promising ease from start to finish.
This immersive journey is held just once a month and designed for solo travellers seeking clarity, balance, and reconnection. The resort’s resident Wellness Mentor, former Buddhist nun Ibu Fera, guides the experience alongside a skilled team of practitioners and local healers. Drawing on the island’s renowned spiritual traditions, they lead a gentle, digital-detox program that includes meditation, Kundalini yoga, chakra balancing and deeply restorative spa rituals.
In Bali, silence is considered sacred. The island’s new year - Nyepi or “Day of Silence” - embodies this principle as daily life pauses and people rest in reflection, prayer and meditation. The retreat is an extension of the resort’s annual Nyepi celebrations, offering global guests a living expression of profound cultural traditions. In today’s fast-paced world of constant connectivity, digital noise, and relentless demands, it responds to a growing desire for something different: a chance to step away - to unplug, listen more deeply, and reconnect with inner wisdom.
The resort’s villas and suites provide a perfect haven for quiet rejuvenation, surrounded by lush jungle and rolling rice terraces. From this secluded base, days flow with intention, nourished by Sattvic cuisine – vibrant and seasonal plant-based dishes crafted to promote health and vitality. Menus are specially designed by “Balinese culinary custodian” Head Chef Wayan Sutariawan (Suta) and served in-villa or in quiet spots around the resort. Click here to review the full Sattvic menu.
Rooted in Healing Wisdom
Guiding the journey inward is a wellness team renowned for tending to guests with warmth, insight and care. Ibu Heny Ferawati – known affectionately as Ibu Fera - brings a life shaped by Vipassana meditation and ordination as a Buddhist nun in Myanmar. Her transformative journey across Asia informs her heart-led outlook, and she is much loved for her onsite meditation, mindfulness, and reflective life talks. Local healers draw on the rich and transformative traditions of the island to offer an authentic connection to Bali’s spiritual heart.
From the serene riverside surrounds of the resort’s Sacred River Spa, nurturing treatments tap into Balinese healing knowledge. Tirta Ening is a 150-minute multi-sensory water ceremony inspired by Bali’s sacred water traditions. It combines steam, crystal-infused water purification, waterbed massage, and a monsoon shower honouring the UNESCO-listed subak irrigation system. Equally transformative, Restu Bumi is a two-hour connection ritual encompassing traditional instruments, local herbs, and a toe-to-crown activated gemstone massage with Indonesian moss agate.
Into Presence
A sample retreat day might include morning Kundalini yoga in the lotus-inspired, bamboo Dharma Shanti Bale, followed by in-villa floating breakfast and a Crystal Reiki treatment at the Sacred River Spa. Guided meditation brings the day to a close with the sounds of the jungle at dusk all around. Days are artfully designed to facilitate personal time for journalling, resting or reading alongside contemplative activities.
Guests hand their mobile phones in at the Front Desk, and television and Wi-Fi is removed from the villa to ensure total mental and emotional restoration. Connection comes from a deeper awareness of self and surroundings, as well as cultural experiences, most notably the resort’s signature “Can You Keep a Secret” journey. On the last day of the retreat, this private three-hour tour explores a secret list of lesser-known local sites and hidden treasures, offering inspired discovery while gently easing the retreatant back into the speaking world.
“We often forget how much we need silence until we truly experience it,” comments Four Seasons Asia Pacific Regional Director of Spa Luisa Anderson. “In Bali, restorative reflection is revered and held through generations of wisdom and craft. This retreat is led by skilled practitioners who create a deeply considered space for stillness. It is simple, grounded, and profoundly transformative.”
“In my years of practice, I’ve learned that silence is one of the greatest teachers,” adds Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan Resident Wellness Mentor Ibu Heny Ferawati. “When we let go of distractions and allow ourselves to be still, we begin to hear what really matters. Supported by nature and Balinese tradition, this retreat helps guests come gently back to themselves and their inner joy.
