Launching this Valentine’s Day, couples can order their take-away picnic basket of choice (three options are available – all equally delicious) and enjoy it at one of the Hotel's five recommended picnic spots.  Recommendations include the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, which offers a great escape from the inner city with lush green lawns, the opportunity to spot rare bird species and a natural waterfall that forms the centrepiece and backdrop to the gardens; and the James & Ethel Gray park in Melrose, one of the best places in the city to watch the sunset over the Joburg skyline.

View, the Hotel's signature restaurant, offers guests a seasonal gourmet five-course dinner, perfectly paired with the best wines from South Africa and abroad. A linear slot window provides glimpses into the kitchen and the food, exquisitely styled, is theatrically presented and unveiled as art on a plate. The five-course dinner at View is priced at ZAR 960 per person without wine pairing, or ZAR 1,600 per person with wine pairing.

With its earthy, natural palette of colours, Flames Restaurant is all about the easiness and fun of informal dining. The menu is influenced by the enviable outdoor lifestyle and local barbecue or braai, a cross-cultural culinary tradition that is inherently South African.
