The collection of hotels and resorts across Africa has unveiled new over and underwater safari and wildlife experiences that allow guests to immerse in local wildlife and conservation efforts

March 26, 2025,
Johannesburg, South Africa

With a diverse portfolio of luxury hotels across Africa and the Indian Ocean, Four Seasons has specially curated its Safari and Islands Collection to offer discerning travellers the unique chance for once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounters, all while maintaining the luxury and comfort the brand is known for. Offering the opportunity for twin-centred travel from safari to sea, the collection includes: Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island, Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita, Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg and Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti. This collection’s new wildlife experiences both on-land and underwater give guests the opportunity to experience the destination’s wild and marine life in a new way, as well as immerse themselves into local conservation efforts first-hand.

Four Seasons Resort Seychelles

Tucked away in the secluded Petite Anse bay on the southwest coast of Mahé, Seychelles’ largest island, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles boasts a privileged position perched above one of the destination's most treasured beaches. With sustainability at the core of the resort, guests are able to join the WiseOceans marine biologist on snorkel tours of the reef to spot the local marine life, from kaleidoscopic fish-like pufferfish, tangs and angel fish, to sea turtles and even the occasional whale sharks during their seasonal migration. Guests wanting to find out more about the resort's marine conservation efforts can head to the Coral Cabana to learn about the pioneering coral lines Petite Anse Reef Restoration Project - even getting the chance to string and plant a line of coral into the nursery themselves. Back on land, the resort's collection of treehouse villas offers private swimming pools with panoramic views over the turquoise bay below, topped only by the view at Le Syel Spa, where indulgent pampering awaits.

Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island

Sitting on its very own private island, just a 35-minute flight from Mahè, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island is a true castaway paradise. With more than 365 hectares (900 acres) of private island to explore, edged by 14 kilometres (9 miles) of white-sand beaches, guests will step into a world of untouched nature, where giant Aldabra tortoises roam the grounds and rays and sea turtles swim along the shore. Highlight wildlife experiences include Humpback Whale Watching adventures with Blue Safari to explore the pristine surrounding reefs that teem with marine life, and spending time at the Tortoise Sanctuary with George, Philly, Big Pete and more, the island’s famed giant Aldabra tortoises. Through the resort’s tortoise adoption program, guests can play an active role in supporting the sanctuary’s efforts to protect this endangered species. The hotel also recently introduced a new Farm-to-Fork Experience, to connect guests to the island, its traditions, and its natural resources. The experience begins at the hotel’s organic gardens to handpick a selection of island-grown ingredients, including papaya, fresh fig, tomato, aubergine and pumpkin, before a traditional Creole cooking class. Local chefs are on hand to bring the experience to life with their knowledge, sharing the stories behind the ingredients and techniques used in authentic Creole cuisine.

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita

Located on the lush east coast of Mauritius, between a sparkling turquoise lagoon and the majestic Bambou mountain, Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita is a nature-lover’s paradise. The waters surrounding the resort are home to a unique rare and endangered seahorse species. Guests can join Rick-Ernest Bonnier, Resort Ocean Environment Manager, to learn more about the hotel’s Seahorse Conservation Project during snorkelling trips among the resort's mangroves to help collect vital data about the seahorse populations. Rick also offers daily Resort Nature Walks for guests to learn about Mauritius's endemic trees and plants and colourful wildlife, visiting the hotel’s very own endemic nursery. After a day exploring the Indian Ocean, a tempting array of dining venues, an award-winning overwater spa and a vast selection of suites, villas and rooms await. Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita is currently closed for an extensive refurbishment and will re-open with a new look at the end of 2025.

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

Nestled in the heart of the Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti offers an extraordinary opportunity to witness Africa’s most iconic wildlife in their natural habitat. A wildlife immersion awaits. Starting with game drives, rangers take guests to the best locations for a chance at encountering the Big Five up close or to witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration. Hot air balloon safaris offer a memorable sunrise flight over the majestic savannah, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush; walking safaris provide guests with the unique chance to learn about the finer details of the Serengeti, including birds, flora and animal tracking; or visit the Ngorongoro Crater Safari, the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera, which offers some of the best game-viewing in Africa and the chance to spot an elusive Black Rhino. A popular tour is the hotel's new photography-led safaris alongside leading wildlife photographers, where guests work side-by-side to capture memories to last a lifetime. And with conservation at its core, the unique on-site Discovery Center provides an opportunity to learn more about the property’s extensive environmental initiatives, including the Rhino Conservation Project and Frankfurt Zoological Society’s Serengeti De-Snaring Project and local community initiatives.

Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg

A gateway to some of South Africa’s most exciting wildlife and cultural experiences in southern Africa, Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg is a secluded retreat just steps away from the city’s main attractions: ideal for those wanting to combine the city with safari or serve as a base for exploring Southern Africa's great wonders. Joining talented local rangers, guests can journey into Pilanesberg National Park for a chance to spot the Big Five, as well as giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and several bird species. Meanwhile, the hotel’s “urban safaris” offer guests insight into the country’s storied history, art, culinary and cultural scenes. Johannesburg's vibrant spirit encourages guests to stay longer and become immersed in tours at local, natural, cultural, historical and heritage sites, from vibrant craft markets to museums such as the Apartheid Museum, WITS Origins Centre, the Hector Pietersen Museum, Mandela House Museum or several Art museums for avid collectors.
