Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui Celebrates the Indomitable Spirit of the Island with a Sustainable Christmas Tree
The resort brings the “Tropical Tales of the Monkey” to life through thoughtful motifs and meaningful holiday cheer
As far as island destinations in Southeast Asia go, Koh Samui’s charm, calm and creativity lends itself naturally to memorable holiday festivities. A jewel in the Gulf of Thailand, the island presents the ideal landscape for a relaxing year-end escape – whether shared with family, celebrated as a couple, or enjoyed in quiet reflection – made perfect by stunning celebrations at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. Offering personalised experiences rooted in cultural creativity and connection, the resort’s events each year are thoughtful, reflecting the island’s spirit and heritage. “As a part of our pioneering efforts in the areas of sustainability and eco-consciousness, our long-standing relationship with the island and its ecosystem underscore our daily operation,” smiles Jasjit Assi, General Manager. Creating awareness for the brand’s award winning Four Seasons for Good program, the resort prides itself for its positive and ongoing involvement with the local communities and environment.
Continuing a Legacy
Inspired by Koh Samui’s natural elements and coconut farming heritage, the Christmas Tree builds on the resort’s tradition of meaningful festive design, celebrating the whimsical, curious spirit of the monkey, in addition to featuring lotus flowers and tropical foliage that represent harmony and joy. “Embodying sustainability, creativity, and connection, our Christmas Tree brings the ‘Tropical Tales of the Monkey’ to life through nature, craftsmanship, and playful tradition,” adds the proud General Manager.
Sustainable Celebration
Created entirely from tropical plants and natural material sourced from the resort’s own farm, the tree tells a story of zero waste and circular sustainability. “After the festive season, all the plants and material will be returned to the farm to continue growing, ensuring that every element is reused and nothing goes to waste,” remarks Thada Wasagool, Sustainability Manager. A true celebration of the resort’s deep-rooted connection with the Earth, each ornament honours the beauty and resourcefulness of the island. Designed with Thai craftsmanship in mind, the tree incorporates island textures, natural tones, and symbolic details that honour Samui’s traditions in a fresh, modern way.
Towards One Goal
As part of the experience, guests will be invited to join the team while decorating the tree, placing the unique ornaments among the lush tropical bounty. “This shared act of creativity and care transforms the tree into a joyful expression of community and environmental stewardship — capturing the true spirit of the festive season,” feels Thada. Visually captivating and interactively designed, the tree becomes a centrepiece for memory-making — sparking wonder, play, and togetherness across generations.
Magic and Wonderment of the Festive Season
A living embodiment of the resort’s festive theme, the story unfolds through sculpture, symbol, and celebration. “The monkey’s playful energy and organic beauty reflect the heart of the resort’s festive spirit,” he shares. The experience continues at the White Monkey Party on the Main Beach on New Year’s Eve — a tropical evening of artistry and celebration, where sculptural décor and white lotus motifs bring the theme to life beneath the stars.
“This season of sharing and giving, we continue to be mindful of the environment and our role in sustaining it through our own daily practices,” says Jasjit. “Our resort is committed to celebrating the holiday tradition in a meaningful and lasting way, deeply resonating with the island’s rhythm.”
