This Holiday Season, Find Your "Place of Joy" at the New Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina

Tradition and luxury feature as Four Seasons presents its first festive season on Oahu

September 2, 2016,
Hawaii, Oahu, U.S.A.

Traditionally, the forerunner to the festive season in Hawaii was the four month New Year celebration of rest and feast to honour the earth called Makahiki.

The new Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina will honour Hawaiian traditions of rest, feast and family in its first festive season on Oahu with a spectacular array of special programs, including a “Worlds of Christmas” Buffet on December 25, 2016, themed evenings in the Resort’s destination restaurants, champagne served poolside on New Year’s Eve and a traditional Hawaiian luau, set in front of the Resort’s stunning 120 foot (37 metre) infinity pool against the panoramic backdrop of the South Pacific.

Rest

Adjacent to Lanikuhonua (“where heaven meets the Earth”), luxury accommodations at Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina offer stunning panoramic ocean views and a naturally elegant décor. With 371 luxury guest rooms and suites, the Resort offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Ko Olina’s turquoise-blue waters beckon with white sand beaches and spectacular sunsets. More than 200 oceanfront rooms offer unparalleled views of the awesome annual humpback whale migration.

Guests luxuriate in Four Seasons signature beds, with HD flat-screen televisions, special holiday in-room dining options and spacious private lanais that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor tropical living. Marble bathrooms provide two vanity sinks, deep soaking tubs and walk-in glass showers.

Rooms (averaging more than 640 square feet or 59 square metres) welcome in authentic Hawaiian style, inspired by nature and featuring traditional local woods and banana leaf headboards. Special in-room amenities for the holiday season welcome with the true spirit of aloha.

Feast

From December 21, 2016 to January 3, 2017, Four Seasons chefs will present themed evenings in the Resort’s destination restaurants La Hiki, Noe and Fish House, culminating in a “Worlds of Christmas” Buffet on December 25 surrounding the Resort’s circular Serenity Pool.

Entertainment options from December 21 to January 3 include Chinese dragon dancing at La Hiki, Al Capone night with prohibition cocktails at Noe, fire knife dancing and hula at Fish House and a traditional Hawaiian BBQ luau ocean side on December 23.

Four Seasons Executive Chef Martin Knaubert and restaurant chefs Ray German (Fish House), Jobbie Domendon (La Hiki) and Ryo Takatsuka (Noe) will present special menus on New Year’s Eve in two seatings, or guests can order a la carte to experience the Resort’s signature pan Asian, southern Italian and line-to-table dining options. Reservations are now available on Open Table.

Family

Kids for All Seasons, Four Seasons signature brand of family programming (complimentary with stay) will present an array of family activities from stargazing and storytelling, holiday tree decorating and baking, in-room visits from Santa (by reservation only), mele and hula on Makahiki Day, a glow in the dark beach party, mermaid training camp, Ko Olina tea party, hula camp, lei making and teen karaoke and carnival nights.

Families can ring in the New Year with an amazing night of dancing, magic, karaoke, a photo booth, snacks, balloons and prizes from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.

Culture

In Hawaiian culture, there is a profound connection between the`aina (land) and the ocean.

Lanikuhonua, adjacent to Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, is a sacred and culturally rich oceanfront estate “where heaven meets the Earth.” Once a special retreat for Hawaiian royalty and chiefs, its natural rock formations, or “ponds,” contain spring water from the mountains.

Today, Lanikuhonua serves as a place for meditation as well as a connection to Hawaii’s history thanks to educational lectures by Auntie Nettie Tiffany, the spiritual Kahu for Lanikuhonua. The estate’s pristine 10 acres (4 hectares) of lush jungle and oceanfront grounds are also a favourite wedding and event destination with idyllic outdoor setups.

Four Seasons cultural curators such as Ha’a Keaulana (one of Hawaii’s famous water women) and Makua Rothman (world champion big wave surfer) share stories and offer guests a unique immersion in the real Hawaii, complimenting extraordinary experiences such as the Palehua hike, circle Oahu helicopter tours with mountain top landings, whale watching and sunset yacht cruises on the Waianae coast.

Pure Indulgence

No festive experience is complete without true pampering. Holiday guests can rejuvenate at Naupaka Spa, the Resort's 35,000 square foot (3,250 square metre) spa and fitness centre, with traditional Hawaiian healing and massage therapies including the Liliko’i Lomilomi and Papa Lani Massage ("heaven and the spiritual powers").

Halotherapy, offered in Naupaka’s two Himalayan salt chambers, complements the natural detox of fresh air and ocean swimming on Oahu’s leeward coast with wide-ranging calming and detoxifying effects.

Treatments include HĀ (“breath of life”) ritual and Ho'okahi (“to make as one”) blending European halotherapy with traditional bathing elements of a Turkish hammam with centuries-old curative effect. Face therapies include Rose Quartz Healing and the Samadara Ultimate Age-Defying Facial.

The excitement of an evening out is heightened with feng shui hair styling and make up at the Yamaguchi Salon. Men may opt for the Ali’i Royal Shave, while being served craft beer in the Spa’s barbershop after 18 holes at Ko Olina’s award-winning golf course or an afternoon at the Resort’s five court Jim Courier Tennis Centre.

Keiki can also indulge with the Hulali Mani Pedi or Hawaiian Hula Princess treatment.
