Charles H. at Four Seasons Seoul Retains Accolade Among World’s 50 Best Bars, Ranking #42 in 2021

Glamorous speakeasy bar Charles H. – hidden in the lower lobby level of Four Seasons Hotel Seoul – has been named one of the World’s 50 Best Bars for the second consecutive year. Entering the list at #49 in 2020, Charles H. has climbed an impressive seven spots to #42 in the 2021 rankings.

Organised by William Reed Business Media Group in the UK and sponsored by Perrier, the World 50 Best Bars began 2009 to toast the crème de la crème of the international cocktail bar scene. With voting undertaken by more than 500 industry experts, the awards are the most hotly anticipated in the drinks industry, and showcase the widest reach: 2021’s list – released via live stream on December 8, 2021 at 05:15 Korea Standard Time – features establishments from 17 countries.

The only bar on the list located in Korea, Charles H. is one of 15 bars to be included from Asia. In addition, Charles H. is ranked #13 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2021 and received the accolade of #1 Best Bar in Korea.

Named after the legendary American author and epicurean, Charles H. Baker – who travelled the world from the 1920s to 1950s – the speakeasy bar Charles H. is accessible via a secret passageway within Four Seasons Hotel Seoul. Opening into a glamorous space surrounded by extravagant pieces of Korean artwork, Charles H. offers a tantalising reinterpretation of cocktails from each country featured in Baker’s writings, including London’s Strawberries & Cream, comprising buttered strawberry vodka, strawberry sorbet, Champagne and cream, alongside a diverse food menu to pair with the drinks.
