Nestled within the bamboo thickets of Northern Thailand, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle offers a blend of rustic adventure and mindful luxury. Perched along the banks of the Ruak River and surrounded by jungle canopies, the camp invites guests to slow down and reconnect with nature—without compromising on comfort or sophistication. “Designed with a light footprint and deep respect for its environment, the camp is built almost entirely on stilts and suspended walkways to minimise impact on the forest floor,” shares Paweena Waraha, Camp Manager.

Tented Living

Merging classic safari romance with Thai craftsmanship, the accommodation creates immersive retreats that open out to sweeping views of Myanmar and Laos. “Besides the design itself, each tent is themed to represent the local way of life here in the northern hills,” she adds. The hilltribes, weaves, jewellery, local flora and fauna add a vivid touch to the interiors of the tent, giving guests a true flavour of the community that the camp operates in.

Sustainability – A Way of Life

In this pristine setting, the camp has implemented several sustainability initiatives including composting food and garden waste and recycling natural material back into the soil to nourish the landscape. “Organic waste generated onsite is transformed into compost that supports native flora, contributing to the biodiversity of the surrounding ecosystem,” elaborates Ajit Nandakumar, Assistant Camp Manager. Dining at the Camp embraces a farm-to-table approach where menus change seasonally and draw inspiration from Thai, Laotian, and Burmese culinary traditions. Ingredients are sourced from nearby farms and community producers, with daily specials shaped by what’s available locally. “Food waste is diverted from landfill and donated to local farms for use as animal feed,” he adds.

From Thailand to the World

Locally sourced material shape the camp’s aesthetic – from bamboo furniture to handwoven textiles. Open-air spaces such as Nong Yao Restaurant, the riverside Burma Bar, and the tranquil spa sala are designed to reduce energy consumption while offering uninterrupted views of the jungle and river. “Northern Thailand is renowned for its tea and coffee plantation,” says Ajit. “Loose-leaf teas and coffee are sourced from local plantations to reduce packaging waste and support local economic development.” Moreover, all sourced coffee pods available in guest tents are biodegradable, while the private bar offerings are bottled in glass to reduce plastic and aluminum use.

Low Impact, Mindful Experiences

The curated experiences at the resort extend to nature exploration through low-impact adventures such as foraging walks, riverside dinner, and guided hikes along the camp’s private nature trails. Weaving and fishing with the locals give guests a up-close-and-personal experience of engaging with the local community, while learning a new craft. “As the handicrafts and culture blend seamlessly into the camp’s design including tableware, linen, and souvenirs, these experiences also foster a deeper connection to the land,” smiles Paweena. The open-air spa rituals use homegrown herbs, natural clays, and ingredients such as bamboo, lemongrass, and moringa that highlight the region’s diverse plant life and traditional knowledge of natural healing.

“For nearly two decades, the camp has played an important role in preserving the Golden Triangle,” says Paweena. “We are committed to regenerating the environment and leaving a positive, enduring impact on our local community.”
