Her smile is as disarming as her birthplace – the “land of smiles.” Thailand is known to be warm and welcoming, and Paweena Waraha reflects that in entirety. If she is running a full marathon in four hours today, she is climbing Mount Fuji the next day, or perhaps scuba diving a day later. A free spirit that she is, Paweena, or Poy – as she is nicknamed, succeeds in bringing out and inimitable individualist. “I believe in being the best version of myself and I never hold regrets,” she insists, highlighting her secret characteristic that draws people to her. It is no wonder that she is a seasoned rooms leader with more than 15 years of experience in the industry.

In 2004, Paweena tried her hand at a travel program where she had the opportunity to work as a hotel receptionist at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. That three-month stint ignited the burning desire in her to explore a career in hospitality. “I love connecting with people from different places, cultures and beliefs. It excites me!” she shares.

After securing a degree in Business Administration, the hospitality wizard embarked on a “magical journey,” starting in 2008 with the Venetian in Macau as a guest relations officer. An avid learner who is always seeking new experience, she even has a certificate in Hotel Revenue Management from Cornell University.

Paweena Waraha's career has been a journey of growth and international exploration. Beginning in Guangzhou, China, in 2009, she quickly advanced in her profession, contributing significantly to a hotel's pre-opening in Macau again in 2011. Her journey through various prestigious hospitality properties has taken her to Dubai, New Zealand, Tokyo, and most recently, Osaka, where she served as the director of operations. “I was blessed to find the opportunity to explore the world and lead an international team,” she shares, with immense gratitude. During her time in New Zealand, particularly, her involvement with AICR New Zealand, an International Association for Deputy Managers and Front Office Managers of Luxury Hotels, stands out. She was selected as Vice President and Board Member for the South Island in 2018, spearheading all activities.

Her mind is focused on equal opportunities, which has steered her way forward as a true leader. “I believe in creating a positive impact on team members and others. One needs to be remembered for the right things,” believes Paweena. It is this attitude that brought her into the Four Seasons family. “I am passionate about this brand because we lead with care and give priority to people and quality,” she observes, adding that her work matters personally as it is an integral part of her life’s journey.

Paweena Waraha's zest for outdoor activities and travel reflects her dynamic nature, embracing each season with a different sport. In winter, she hits the slopes for snowboarding, while spring and autumn find her hiking amid nature's splendour. Summertime is reserved for scuba diving, exploring underwater worlds. Year-round, she engages in running, cycling, and swimming, a testament to her commitment to fitness. 2023 was a landmark year for Paweena, marking her debut in marathons and triathlons, where she impressively finished her first marathon in 4 hours and 16 minutes and topped her age group in her first triathlon. This enthusiasm for trying new activities and her openness to new experiences encapsulates Paweena’s adventurous and evolving spirit.

Dreaming and doing are two different things for Paweena. Be it her personal interests or her professional commitments, she would rather action them than put on hold for later. “Be the best version of yourself and you will find contentment in every moment of your life” she smiles.
