Botanical Cure at the Spa at Four Seasons

In 2012 we brought you three new treatment lines to the Spa and an entirely new menu focusing on results. Then, in 2013, Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong unveiled a treatment – which we consider more of an experience – in a three-hour therapy that includes a wrap, scrub and massage incorporating a natural solution to the stresses of city living; the Spa proudly launched the Botanical Cure.

We know this might take some convincing, but we truly believe in it. It is a treatment that our Spa Director Shoshana Weinberg fell in love with 10 years ago, through her own spa guru; Mallina Visarraga. Shoshana tells us that the Botanical Cure offers "something out of the ordinary that is a profoundly effective cure for the body. The release of tension, and the balance and restoration of ‘self’ is quite remarkable. Mallina’s work has inspired me and I think Hong Kong is ready for this!”

During her in-depth training with our most expert therapists, Mallina explained that the lomi lomi nui technique comes from an ancient Polynesian healing ritual and means "to break apart from the heart." To perform this massage, the therapists learn the technique called flying; “it’s about transmitting vibrations from therapist to the guest to allow expansion in the body, to create space within themselves.” She adds that the effect is to make the guest feel "more present.” Visarraga, a professionally trained Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor (TCM), was one of only a very few to be selected to train with the island’s traditional elder in the ceremonial philosophy and body work exclusive to Hawaiian royalty.

The Botanical Cure is a three-hour treatment and priced at HKD 3,800 Monday-Friday, and HKD 4,100 on Saturday and Sunday. It is the perfect antidote to Hong Kong’s fast-paced, compact lifestyle and will leave an immediate, marked affect but will also offer longer term benefits when taken regularly.
