This summer, Chef Concierge Taryn Shackleton suggests a fun-filled, three-day family itinerary for children, parents and grandparents looking to make the most of a mountain getaway to Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole.

Day 1

Upon arrival, the youngest travellers are greeted with an adventure backpack, perfect for embarking on explorations in the days ahead. Once everyone is settled in, spend the day lounging poolside in the year-round heated pool, enjoying complimentary passed poolside treats and dramatic alpine views.

In the afternoon, unplug and spend quality time together hiking on one of Jackson Hole’s many nearby trails. Check in with the team at Basecamp for insider tips and the Concierge for assistance arranging a guided hike. Or, pick-up a mountain bike or accessible e-bike and go for a spin on Jackson Hole’s extensive community bike paths.

Grab a casual dinner at The Handle Bar, starting with the signature, butter-brushed Handle Bar Pretzel, made fresh daily and shaped like a moustache. Indulgent choices sure to please all ages include the Handle Burger and Baked Truffle Mac, and lighter items include Heirloom and Stone Fruit Gazpacho or Little Gem Caesar Salad.

End the night on a celestial note, with a private stargazing party for the family directly on the Resort grounds. Uncover the mysteries of the night sky with a professional astronomer, using a high-powered telescope, and enjoy a selection of gourmet treats as the perfect finale to the first day in Jackson Hole.

Day 2

It’s time to head outside! Book a signature Four Seasons guided excursion, perfect for all ages to experience the great outdoors. Scout for native roaming animals of the area on a Wildlife Safari tour, spotting elk, moose, bears and more, while learning about the connection to place and destination’s commitment to preservation and sustainability. For the ultimate all-day excursion, arrange a tour to Yellowstone and explore the lower loop of America’s first national park to experience the grandeur of the mountain west.

After a day of adventure, the entire family will delight in a dinner in town, checking out one of the many unique restaurants. Be sure to stop by Yippy I-O Candy Co., a staple since 1993, featuring more than 1,000 types of candy including signature huckleberry treats. Also not to be missed is the Jackson Hole Toy Store, offering an expansive selection of toys, gifts and collectibles from around the world.

Day 3

Parents and grandparents travelling with teens can start the day by climbing the Via Ferrata, an assisted climbing activity guided through the alpine terrain at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Climbers are secure with cables and use aids such as iron rungs, pegs, carved steps and suspended bridges to explore Rendezvous Peak.

Those travelling with younger children can cool down from the summer heat with the Pop Jet fountain located in the Village Commons or head to the Jackson Hole Children’s Museum, featuring daily programming and a variety of organized activities for kids to create and play.

After a morning well spent, the entire family will enjoy exploring the high alpine terrain and beautiful views on the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram. In just 12 minutes, the Aerial Tram glides skyward 4,139 vertical feet (1,262 metres). The summit offers staggering, 360-degree views of the Tetons, Jackson Hole valley, and surrounding mountain ranges. Before heading down the mountain, stop by Corbet’s Cabin to sample their delectable waffles.

For a taste of the Old West, the evening calls for a covered wagon cookout and show. Travelling by horse-drawn, covered wagon, this three-hour evening dinner and show takes guests to beautiful Cache Creek Canyon. Enjoy a full evening of entertainment, western hospitality and home-cooked, cowboy cuisine.

End the day back on property with an al fresco nightcap at Ascent Lounge, recounting the day’s adventures.
