A panel comprising the network’s Global Member Advisory Board and preferred partners reviewed submissions covering five categories including Culture, with agency members reviewing the partner submissions, and the partners reviewing the member submissions.
“The efforts showcased by this recognition are truly shared by all our colleagues,” says Alastair McAlpine, General Manager, Four Seasons Resorts Lanai. “It’s a commitment by each and every one of them to not only educate themselves and preserve the history, customs, and practices of Lāna‘i but also a dedication to share this rich culture with our guests, from casual interactions to innovative experiences.”
The Resort’s on-site Love Lāna'i Cultural Advisors, along with a Hawaiian Cultural Practitioner and Historian, are integral to this mission and to creating activities that bring the island’s unique spirit and historical legacy to guests. One of the newest offerings is the on-site Lāna'i Observatory, where guests hear voyaging traditions and wayfinding methods of Pacific ancestors before viewing stunning celestial objects through a state-of-the-art telescope.
McAlpine concludes, “It’s been a deeply rewarding journey for me, watching the knowledge, pride and programming blossom to allow us all to respect and care for our island home.”
