Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Celebrates Fall Travel with Seasonal Programming
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, the first and only AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star Resort on Hawaii Island, announces its line-up of programming in advance of the fall travel season. Pairing the unbeatable weather and warm ocean temperatures with lessened crowds given school is back in session, the Resort provides an idyllic getaway for couples and friends traveling together, seeking a relaxing retreat featuring exceptional experiences, distinct culinary and beverage offerings, ample outdoor recreational adventures, authentic cultural immersion and so much more.
Seasonal Culinary Experiences
In partnership with Hawaiian rum producer Kuleana Rum, the new Hualalai Rum Farm Tour offers Resort guests the exclusive opportunity to experience the farm and distillery firsthand and learn more about the 40 varieties of Hawaiian heirloom cane sugar and storied history of sugarcane in Hawaii, rooted in the Polynesian Wayfinders original plantings. Based in Kona just minutes from the Resort, Kuleana Rum uses 100 percent local cane sugar to create the highest quality local rum, with each variety bringing a distinct flavour to the rum. Through a collaboration with the distillery, the Resort’s signature Hui Hui Hualalai Blend was developed both for sipping and mixing in cocktails. Kuleana Rum embraced the hyper-local focus of Hualalai and created a blend that highlights both fruity and earthy notes, while allowing the Hawaiian cane sugar to shine, paying homage to this integral part of Hawaiian history. The new Hui Hui Hualalai Blend is featured throughout the Resort’s restaurants and bars in innovative cocktails.
The Resort’s culinary team, led by Executive Chef Richard Polhemus, offers a multitude of dining options and uniquely Hawaiian culinary experiences, with menus that reflect the bounty of Hawaii’s farms and coasts. In celebration of Thanksgiving, the Resort invites guests to join in for a variety of holiday-themed activations, spanning a Turkey Trot and Thanksgiving Day buffet, among a Polynesian Luau and Show featuring authentic Hawaiian fare, refreshing tropical cocktails, hula, and musical performances at the Hoku Amphitheater. At the recently debuted Miller & Lux at Hualalai, a Hawaiian iteration of the awarded Chef Tyler Florence’s San Francisco-based steakhouse, guests will find prime cuts of beef, tableside presentations, craft cocktails, and a curated wine list overlooking the 18th green of Hualalai Golf Course with treetop sunset views. As part of the Resort’s ongoing Winemaker in Residence programming and partnership with Harlan Estates, Chef Tyler Florence and Promontory Wine will host a special wine paring dinner at Miller & Lux Hualalai on November 30, 2024.
Ocean Adventures
If the ocean is calling, look no further than the Alakai Nalu – these “Leaders of the Waves” are Hualalai’s ocean ambassadors, and the expert watermen and women provide a watersports experience that shares their love and knowledge of the ocean and marine life that surrounds the Resort. Favourites include guided Hawaiian outrigger canoe tours, private rib craft adventures, stand-up paddle boarding and scooter snorkelling. As the newest addition, the Resort’s 46 foot (14 metre) catamaran, aptly named Alakai Nui (great leader), offers guests the opportunity to create their own bespoke ocean adventures, exploring the pristine waters and abundant marine life off the coast of Hualalai. The new boat boasts an extended range, enabling guests to venture miles from the Resort and enjoy exciting activities such as deep-sea fishing and exploration of remote Hawaii Island snorkelling locations and beaches, offering fully personalized two, three, and four+ hour excursions.
Hawaii Island Adventure
Hawaii Island, also known as the Big Island, offers an array of explorations and adventures perfect for travellers seeking an action-packed fall getaway. One of the most thrilling experiences is night snorkelling or diving with manta rays, where guests can witness these majestic creatures gliding gracefully through the water under the moonlit sky. For a bird’s-eye view of the island’s diverse landscapes, a helicopter tour offers landings at remote waterfalls, providing a unique and intimate experience with nature. A visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park offers the chance to explore active volcanoes, lava tubes, and stunning vistas, making it a geological wonderland. Hiking enthusiasts will find numerous trails ranging from easy walks to challenging treks, each offering breathtaking views and unique natural features. The island's black and green sand beaches, such as Punaluu and Papakolea, are perfect for a relaxing day by the ocean, offering striking contrasts and serene beauty.
Spa + Wellness
Hualalai Spa’s Moonlight Massage Spa Experience allows guests to indulge in a fully private and customizable spa experience under the stars, reserving the spa after hours, ensuring complete privacy and exclusivity. With the option to customize treatments to their specific needs, guests can relax and rejuvenate in the spa’s tranquil environment. The night begins with private access to the spa relaxation area including a whirlpool, cold plunge, steam room, and sauna. The journey continues with side-by-side Lomi Lomi Massages in one of the spa hales, surrounded by candles and swaying palms. Following the treatments, guests will be escorted to the garden and served champagne and an assortment of Hawaiian fruits and chocolates. One of the standout features of the night spa experience is the opportunity to enjoy moon bathing. This unique experience involves basking in the moonlight while surrounded by the lush tropical gardens of the Resort. The moon's natural energy is believed to have healing properties including stress reduction, anti-inflammation, and balancing of the body’s internal energy.
As part of the Resort’s esteemed collection of Only at Hualalai experiences, celebrating fully immersive, once-in-a-lifetime Hawaiian excursions available exclusively for Resort guests, the 'Iliahi (Sandalwood) Experience allows guests to explore the diverse natural offerings of Hawaii Island and tour Haloa Aina’s native Hawaiian 'Iliahi forest on the slopes of Mauna Loa. Upon arrival to the farm, guests first savour a bountiful brunch served beneath the cover of sandalwood and ohia trees. Then, guests tour the farm, witnessing firsthand how the sandalwood oil is extracted and learn about the healing properties of this native tree. Following the forest tour, guests return to the Hualalai Spa for an exclusive 'Iliahi spa experience. The Resort’s resident spa intuitive leads a vibrational forest essence session, focusing on energy work with a sound bath. The session concludes with the white flowering 'Iliahi body cocoon, sealing in moisturizing coconut oil and a fine sprinkle of sandalwood powder, ending with a massage with highly emollient sandalwood oil.
