Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, the award-winning property situated on Mexico’s undiscovered East Cape, and Caralarga, the famed Mexico-based textile design brand, are introducing an exclusive, handmade capsule collection. The 11-piece women’s wear line was inspired by the Resort’s unique location in Los Cabos - miles from the tourist corridor, surrounded by the striking Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, dramatic desert foothills and serene waters of the Sea of Cortez. This marks the second collaboration for the pair, the first being a large format, raw cotton art installation that adorns the reception wall at Oasis Spa and Wellness Center that Caralarga created for the Resort’s opening in October 2019.

“We are overjoyed to be collaborating with Caralarga, a truly ingenious and inspiring brand, to debut this bespoke collection,” says Borja Manchado, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas. “The Caralarga brand speaks to the cultural fabric of our Resort - our distinct setting and passion for craftsmanship are showcased in every piece. We are honoured to be the first resort partner for the design brand.”

Created by Caralarga Founder Ana Holschneider and Head Designer Elizabeth Alva, the resort wear line offers a curated selection of garments - from free-flowing blouses and structured dresses to one-of-a-kind accessories that include statement hats, woven bags and hand-crafted jewellery. Each piece showcases a monochromatic neutral palette, reflecting the Baja desert landscape, with touches of blue to evoke the elegance of the Sea of Cortez, and green hues that take inspiration from the majesty of the surrounding Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Fringe detail and coiled embroidery add dimension to the collection and distinct flair—a subtle reflection of the abundant nature on the East Cape of the Baja California peninsula.

Placing an emphasis on creating simple, artisanal pieces, Caralarga’s overall design style is inspired by the materials of nature. Fabrics such as raw cotton, recycled textile waste and pre-washed canvas are used to create the ready-to-wear separates, which perfectly transition from day to night. The materials for the collection are sourced sustainably with a low environmental impact from the Hercules Textile Factory in Queréatro, Mexico, which has been in operation since the 1800s. When crafting each garment, the brand seeks to preserve the fabric’s essence to convey the beauty of the material in its truest form, and works with its designers to preserve ancestral techniques.

“Working with Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos has been an absolute dream,” says Ana Holschneider, Caralarga Founder. “Our team was deeply inspired by the values of sustainability and nature that the Resort community possesses, as well as the genuine kindness and nobility from the team at Four Seasons. We’re excited to introduce this special collection and share a tangible piece of the East Cape for the Resort’s guests to enjoy on-property and at home.”

The collection is available for purchase at Oasis Spa’s retail market within the Resort, and will soon be available via the Caralarga website here.

About Caralarga

Located in Querétaro, México, Caralarga is a textile design and production workshop inspired by nature’s raw materials. Founded in 2014 by Ana Holschneider and artisan Socorro Gasca, Caralarga explores waste as a medium to create unique, timeless and sustainable jewellery, apparel and large and medium format art installations. Pieces are crafted with raw cotton threads and textile waste discarded for small production errors; elements such as wood frames and spheres are entirely handmade by local artisans who work in paper mâché and pine.
