It’s easy to let go of a fitness regimen while on holiday –and  those relaxing spa therapies and decadent in-villa menus don’t quite help the cause! For guests looking to stay active while still having fun, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offers fitness experiences for a full-body workout in the outdoors.

“Our experiences are designed to allow guests a guilt-free vacation, with some fun, sun and sea thrown in while enjoying the lush tropical outdoors and island life,” smiles Hannes Schneider, Resort Manager.

Art of Eight Limb

Originating in the 18th century, Muay Thai or Thai kickboxing has become a popular fitness option for enthusiasts around the world, thanks to the generous use of fists, elbows, knees and shin in this contact sport. In a one-on-one session with the Resort’s in-house expert Anuphong Deesamer (Kru An), it’s more of a heart-pumping, full body workout. At the Bill Bensley-designed Muay Thai "ring with a view," guests can try their hand at throwing in a few punches, or even hone the technique with the Resort’s expert. From individual fitness sessions to a full-day Muay Thai Adventure, there's a class to suit every level of difficulty.

“I’ve been working out regularly with Kru An, and I don’t think I can ever go back to a closed gym again,” quips Hannes. “He pushes you harder each time and you don’t even notice because the sessions are such fun!”

Water Water Everywhere…

With a beautiful white sandy beach and a calm cove, the Resort’s oceanfront is a great place to relax. Complimentary facilities including beach sports such as volleyball, table tennis, soccer or coconut petanque are perfect for a workout on the beach, while sea lovers can take the Resort’s kayaks, boogie boards and stand-up paddleboards out for an adventure. The 50-metre (164 foot) lap pool completes the beachside wellness experience.

“We have a beautiful reef that we look after as part of our Coral Conservation Project. Our Marine Biologist can take you on a guided snorkelling trip,” shares Hannes.

Run for Fun

For running enthusiasts, the Resort has a fun fitness challenge called the Koh Samui K2 Run. Starting at the beach, the route takes guests all the way up to the Resort’s highest point – the Arrival Sala – which is 400 feet (120 metres) above sea level.

“We have had guests who’ve come back to challenge their previous timing,” smiles Hannes. “It gets quite competitive with guests who run regularly – especially when it’s only a matter of seconds between each other!”
