Manuel Saragga's journey into golf began as a teenager in Portugal, sparked by a high school romance that led him to spend countless hours at a local golf course. There, he met Colin Smith, a former PGA Professional from Scotland who became both a mentor and lifelong friend, helping shape Manuel's passion for the game and the hospitality that surrounds it.

Originally trained as an architect, Manuel earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture before pursuing his passion for golf through professional training in Golf Management. Fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, he brings a unique combination of technical expertise, international experience, and a deep appreciation for creating memorable guest experiences.

In March of 2025, Manuel joined Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo as Director of Golf, drawn by the opportunity to be part of one of the world's most spectacular golf destinations. "It was now or never," he says. "The destination is incredible, and the chance to be part of it was impossible to pass up."

For Manuel, the guest experience is built around three things: location, service, and product. "The views here are unbeatable. The people make you feel instantly at home. And the product? World-class golf in one of the world's most breathtaking settings."

Known for his optimism, enthusiasm, and ability to build lasting friendships, Manuel hopes to be remembered as someone who was both kind and fair. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and surfing, and has quickly discovered some of Costa Rica's most iconic surf breaks, including Witch's Rock and Ollie's Point.

His personal motto is simple: "Always go the extra mile."
