Joining us at the bar, Surinder Virk came to Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire following a year at boutique city Bar Mizukami, where he mastered the skill of Japanese style bartending and "the way of the cocktail." The belief that the process is just as important as the result, it is here he learned the art of creation and the dedication that comes into making every drink, from how it’s poured, stirred or shaken to how it’s presented.

With a four-year tenure at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi in Malaysia, Surinder began by completing his Manager in Training program and spending time working in the signature restaurant IKAN. He was soon promoted to the role of Assistant Bar Manager at Rhu Bar and worked his way up to become the Resort's Head Barman.

Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Surinder attended a local Chinese school and quickly became fluent in Mandarin. Starting his career at Trader’s Hotel at the Shangri-La then moving on to a part-time role at Café Nine, his enthusiasm for bartending was cultivated after working across boutique and stylish local bars. When he later spent time travelling across Asia, the US and Europe, his love and passion for new and exciting tastes continued to grow and he found himself fascinated by different flavour combinations.

When asked what he enjoys most about being a Mixologist, Surinder says, "I love having the opportunity to be creative with the cocktails I make. To offer guests something different and surprise them with flavours they’ve never experienced before."

He enjoys combining East and Western flavours and bringing his experience in the art of the cocktail to the team here in Hampshire.
