Resort Manager Peter Houston started working in hotels at the age of 15. His first foray into hospitality was a summer job in guest services where he learned the art of anticipatory service. This role served as an introduction to the industry in which he would build his career, following in the footsteps of his father. Houston found he enjoyed meeting travellers from all over the world, and building lasting relationships with guests and staff.

“My father has been a trailblazer in the hotel industry, serving as a general manager of Stein Eriksen Lodge, The Peaks, and regional vice president of the Fairmont Residential collection,” says Houston. “The leadership he displayed served as an inspiration for me, balancing dedication to his work and team with a deep personal commitment to his family. His guidance helped show me what is most important in life.”

Jackson Hole is the first Four Seasons appointment for Houston, and he is thrilled to be part of the iconic brand’s only property in Wyoming.

“Four Seasons is at the top of the hospitality industry for a reason,” says Houston. “We pride ourselves on taking care of our people, and as a result, work among incredibly talented individuals. I am grateful to be a part of this incredible property and organization.”

Houston’s most recent appointment was as director of rooms at Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection, in Napa Valley. In this capacity, he directed the implementation of key capital projects to improve the guest and employee experience. He also helped foster a positive culture to deliver excellence.

A native of northern California, Houston grew up primarily in Utah and Colorado, and began his hospitality career working at the Fairmont Franz Klammer Lodge in Telluride during high school. After getting his degree in Hospitality Management from the University of San Francisco, Houston spent the next 10 years growing his career with Fairmont, working at Heritage Place, Chateau Whistler, Waterfront Hotel and the Claremont Club & Spa. During this time, Houston gained experience leading teams in the front office, housekeeping, guest relations and residential associations.

Growing up in the mountains of Park City and Telluride, Houston describes himself as lifelong outdoorsman. He learned to ski with his dad as a toddler, and later enjoyed competitive ski racing. When the snow melted, he turned to his other passion – baseball – and even played briefly in college. Returning to the mountains for his first Four Seasons felt like a perfect fit.

In Jackson Hole, Houston has quickly established roots with his wife Jennifer, and their twin daughters Audrey and Harper.

“Jackson Hole has been an amazing home for our family. We enjoy exploring the valley in the parks and along the bike path in the summer and skiing our incredible terrain in the winter!”
