Four Seasons Resorts Bali Celebrate Nyepi 2026 with Ogoh-Ogoh Parade and Immersive Cultural Experiences

As Bali prepares to welcome Nyepi, the Balinese New Year and Day of Silence on March 19, 2026, Four Seasons Resorts Bali invites guests to experience this one-of-a-kind cultural celebration. A series of authentic, soul-enriching events at the two sister properties includes a spectacular Ogoh-Ogoh parade, immersive workshops, and rituals that honour Bali’s timeless traditions.

From a vibrant procession at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay to meditation under the stars at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, activities reflect both the uplifting and restorative elements of the occasion.

A Sacred Pause

Nyepi ushers in the New Year in the Balinese Saka lunar calendar, a sacred pause devoted to reflection, renewal, and connection. Unlike other New Year celebrations, it is marked not by noise and festivity, but by stillness. For 24 hours, the island falls completely silent: the airport closes, no lights are permitted, and families retreat into peaceful togetherness. It is a time to rest, reset, and honour the Balinese values of harmony, kindness, and love.

One-of-a-Kind Ogoh-Ogoh Parade at Jimbaran Bay

Before the silence, Ogoh-Ogoh Parades are a Balinese Hindu tradition representing a public act of spiritual cleansing to prepare for a new beginning. Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay offers a rare chance to take part in one of the island’s most powerful rituals as the only hotel in Bali to host an on-site Ogoh-Ogoh Parade, complete with a giant “monster.”

Handcrafted over six weeks by the resort’s talented team, the two-metre (7 foot) Ogoh-Ogoh monster takes shape from upcycled paper, bamboo, clay, rattan, and scrap iron, a striking fusion of artistry and sustainability. Symbolising the release of negativity and the triumph of good over evil, the creation will be unveiled in the resort lobby, before coming to life during the resort's Ogoh-Ogoh parade on March 18, 2026, the day before Nyepi.

Guests are invited to join the vibrant procession as it winds from the lobby, brought to life by the resort’s own dancers, gong players, musicians and carrying troupe. The celebration culminates at Sundara, the resort's beachfront restaurant, where the Ogoh-Ogoh will stand on display until the day after Nyepi.

Following the parade, the energy of Nyepi transitions into a time of peace and reflection. Across Four Seasons Resorts Bali, at both Jimbaran Bay and Sayan, a curated program of immersive and restorative complimentary activities invites guests to embrace the island’s spiritual essence.

At the oceanfront Jimbaran Bay, guests can welcome the Day of Silence with Chakra Darshan Yoga, awakening divine Kundalini energy through mindful movement. In the Resort Temple, the Sila Giri Kesarah Temple Experience and Nyepi Storytelling offers a chance to receive blessings and uncover the deeper meaning behind Nyepi. Curious guests can join complimentary hands-on workshops, from Askara calligraphy to crafting Balinese Canang offerings, sweet rice cakes, and herbal health tonics.

At the serene riverside sanctuary of Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, guests can explore traditional Balinese craftsmanship through the making of klangsah, an intricately woven coconut-leaf creation shaped into hats, bowls, and ornaments, and the making of gebogan, elaborate fruit towers prepared as ceremonial offerings.

Wellness rituals at Sayan include Visuddha Truth Chakra Yoga on Pengerupukan or Nyepi Eve, designed to open the throat chakra and inspire authentic expression. On Nyepi Day, Ajna Perception Chakra Yoga awakens intuitive awareness and is followed by a serene evening meditation under the stars, a perfect reflection of the day’s spirit of stillness and renewal.

A Time of Togetherness

Nyepi is also a time for cherished family connection. The festivities bring an opportunity to slow down, share meaningful moments, and immerse in Bali’s heartfelt customs. Both Jimbaran Bay and Sayan host creative activities at their Kids Clubs, inspired by Nyepi’s traditions, from puppet-making to gentle yoga and storytelling.

“Nyepi is a beautiful reminder of balance,” says Randy Shimabuku, General Manager, Four Seasons Resorts Bali. “In stillness, we find peace and perspective. At Four Seasons Resorts Bali, we are honoured to share this sacred celebration with our guests – a unique moment to pause, reflect and reconnect, while experiencing the true heart of Bali.”
