TELU Bar Celebrates 3rd Anniversary: From Forgotten Space to Sustainable Design Icon
TELU Bar at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay celebrates its third anniversary this month, marking three years since an unused corner of the resort was transformed into one of Bali’s most distinctive and sustainably designed cocktail destinations.
What is now a vibrant social hub began as an overlooked and underutilized space. Recognizing its potential, the resort team reimagined the area with a vision rooted in creativity, sustainability and storytelling — creating a bar that would embody both innovative mixology and conscious design.
From inception, TELU Bar was built with sustainability at its core. Rather than sourcing new materials, the team repurposed furnishings, fixtures, and decorative elements from materials salvaged during past renovations across the resort. Timber, metalwork, stone and design accents were carefully reworked into new forms, ensuring that every detail carries a legacy while contributing to a contemporary aesthetic.
“TELU Bar represents a mindset shift where seeing beauty and possibilities in what already exists and what could be created collide. TELU evolved beyond a venue into a platform celebrating Bali’s artisans, culture, and stories while fostering collaboration and community. It bridges sustainability with luxury hospitality, blending tradition and innovation so that every experience carries purpose and supports local causes. Through environmental, educational, and cultural initiatives, TELU shows how hospitality can drive positive impact — ultimately defined by the relationships it builds, traditions it preserves, and communities it strengthens,” says Four Seasons Resorts Bali General Manager Didier Jardin.
Over the past three years, TELU has grown into a destination that reflects Bali’s spirit and the resort’s dedication to sustainability aligned with the philosophy of harmony between people, nature and community that underpins its concept.
Anniversary Artistic Collaboration
To mark this milestone, TELU Bar introduces a newly commissioned artwork by Michael Hockey of Nyaman Gallery, bringing a powerful artistic narrative into the space.
Known for transforming discarded plastics into striking mixed-media works, Hockey’s practice is rooted in reimagining waste as something meaningful mirroring the very ethos behind Telu Bar’s design. His work often draws from found materials, reshaping them into layered compositions that explore texture, memory, and sustainability.
The commissioned piece reflects this shared philosophy, reinforcing TELU’s identity as a space where creativity and sustainability intersect.
“I’m drawn to materials that already carry a story and objects that have lived a life before being rediscovered,” said Michael Hockey. “For TELU, the inspiration was to create something that feels both reclaimed and reimagined, where every layer reflects transformation. It’s about showing that what we often discard still has the potential to become something beautiful, purposeful and alive again.”
Looking Ahead
As TELU Bar enters its fourth year, it continues to evolve as both a social destination and a symbol of sustainable innovation. Its journey from an unused space to a celebrated zero waste venue demonstrates the power of thoughtful design and creative reinvention.
Anniversary celebrations will take place throughout the month, inviting guests to experience TELU’s signature cocktails, immersive atmosphere, and now, a new layer of artistic storytelling.
About TELU Bar
Blending modern mixology with a thoughtful connection to Bali’s heritage, environment and community, TELU takes its name from the Balinese word for “three”, reflecting the harmony of nature, people and soul. Inspired by the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, the cocktail menu is presented in three sustainably minded series, each supporting a purpose-driven charitable partner. Rooted in creativity, conscious living and a deep respect for place, TELU offers a distinctive and meaningful drinking experience.
