Four Seasons Resorts Lanai is Abuzz for National Bee Day

July 23, 2025,
Hawaii, Lanai, U.S.A.

Four Seasons Resort Lanai celebrates National Bee Day, August 16, 2025 with a selection of events and amenities to honour the honey bee. Honey bees are vital to the planet as they continuously seek pollen as a source of protein to feed their offspring, and at the same time transfer pollen between flowers and plants. This is crucial as most plants cannot self-pollinate. The US Department of Agriculture notes that 3/4 of the world’s flowering plants and about 35 percent of the worlds crops depend on animal pollinators to reproduce.

The Resort utilizes organic landscaping as part of its Reef Friendly Landscaping accreditation and is a habitat that supports all varieties of wildlife, including butterflies, moths, lizards, birds, dragon flies, praying mantis, toads, snails and slugs.

The grounds provide habitats free of pesticides, full of nectar and pollen resources, and with ample potential nesting resources. Wild bee pollinator hotels provide shelter to the bees leading to increased plant pollination, in-house honey production, and a rise in local bee population, all  supporting the Resort’s recognition as a pollinator habitat  by the XERCES Society.

Each year since 2009, when the US Secretary of Agriculture declared the third Saturday of August as National Honey Bee Day, people use the opportunity to raise awareness about honey bees and their importance to the ecosystem. On Lanai, guests can enjoy activities including:

Resort Restaurants

Nobu Lanai offers their take on the Bee Sting, featuring rye whiskey, pineapple juice and honey ginger syrup, garnished with pineapple and a flower. A few sprays of Islay Ardbeg provide a peaty punch to evoke the outdoors while the ginger adds a ‘bite’ of spicy ginger.

The Break welcomes visitors into a comfortable place to relax, enjoy a game and grab a bite in an open-air space overlooking Hulopoe Bay. The restaurant offers The Beyhive, perfect for summer sipping. The tropical cocktail blends rum, passionfruit juice and Lanai honey for a light and refreshing libation with a smooth, floral sweetness. The rum brings soft vanilla and oak notes which are balanced by the tart passionfruit and local honey.

Poolside

Guests lounging at the pool and beach will enjoy a complimentary amenity to refresh themselves, a refreshing beverage to enjoy as warm, tropical breezes surround. Splash around at the central, free-form pool or relax in a Sanctuary, all nestled within lush gardens. Be sure to keep an eye out for butterflies. The resort is a Monarch Watch waystation as the Crown Flowers entice them to the flora around the swimming pool.

According to Center for Biological Diversity in Tucson, Arizona, 25 percent of American bee species are at risk of extinction. In 2016, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had given endangered status to 7 species of yellow-faced bees native to Hawaii.
