A culinary journey rooted in family, culture, and an enduring love of food, Omar Elsheikh’s path began not in a professional kitchen, but at his grandmother's side. Though he initially pursued studies in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a vision for hotel leadership, it was those early cooking memories that ultimately redirected his course.
The secluded island of Lanai might seem a unique choice after Las Vegas, but the connection is deep – Vegas is colloquially called the “ninth island” of Hawaii due to its popularity with islanders. Its privacy, natural beauty, and exclusivity made it a compelling next chapter.
In his role, he is driven by the belief that food has a unique power to connect people. He also relishes the challenges of operating in a remote location, and collaboratively leading his team to create unforgettable experiences on the island.
Outside the kitchen, he can often be found mountain biking Lanai's trails, paddleboarding along its coastline, or exploring Polihua Beach with his Blue Heeler, Penny. He treasures time spent with his wife Susanne and daughter Gemma, and is currently focused on learning Korean while passing the gift of Arabic on to his daughter, keeping her connected to her heritage and family roots.
